Delhi Weather Today: Rain is expected in Delhi today, June 6, as temperatures continue to drop, bringing relief from the humid heat. However, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this relief will not last long as a heat wave is set to return to the national capital. Temperatures are expected to once again reach 40 degrees Celsius.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMD), some parts of Delhi may experience thunderstorms today. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 25 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, strong winds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are possible during the afternoon. According to the Meteorological Department, due to a western disturbance and an active cyclonic system in the plains, thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain are likely in Delhi-NCR.

When will the heat wave return?

After two-three days of rain and cool weather, the scorching heat of June is likely to return to Delhi from next week as the mercury is once again expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius and rise further thereafter.

The Meteorological Department has not issued any alerts for next week, but this is likely to change. Furthermore, the IMD has forecast “strong surface winds during the day” next week.

The weather department has issued a forecast for the coming Friday, “The sky will remain generally cloudy. Light rain with thundershowers, lightning and strong winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are likely from morning to afternoon. Another spell of light rain with thundershowers is likely during the evening or night.”
