There is a big update for the drivers of neighboring states including UP, Delhi-Himachal Pradesh. The rules of driving on National Highway (NH) have changed now. Strict action will be taken against the drivers by the police for violating the rules. To prevent road accidents, the police has prepared a plan. Drivers will also be challaned heavily for violating traffic rules.

Uttarakhand Police will also work in a new way for traffic operations on the highways being constructed continuously in four big districts of Uttarakhand including Dehradun, Haridwar, US Nagar and Nainital. Immediate action will be taken in the MV Act strictly against the vehicles which suddenly change lanes dangerously on the highway and drive on the right side.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar gave these instructions in an online meeting of police in-charges of these four districts. The DGP said that the towing crane service operated in Dehradun on PPP mode should be implemented in other districts as well against those who park vehicles in no-parking zones. Apart from this, instructions were also given for permanent deployment of two CPU Hawk mobiles in Mussoorie and Nainital.

He also instructed the Superintendent of Police to fix the speed by coordinating with the ARTO to prevent incidents of overspeed on the highway. After which issued a notification of this speed and also asked to put a board on the highway. He instructed Additional Superintendent of Police Kotdwar, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tehri and Deputy Superintendent of Police Rishikesh to use the Chilla road via Garudchatti barrage and implement one-way system from Garudchatti to Barrage for return from Chardham Yatra.

He also asked to prepare a traffic plan for Chardham Yatra with the help of AI technology. ADG V Murugesan, Director Traffic Mukhtar Mohsin, IG Kumaon Nilesh Anand Bharne were also present in the meeting.
