e-Passbook facility for PPF, Sukanya Samridhi: Now customers of Post Office Small Savings Schemes will be able to access their account information from anywhere, even without net banking or mobile banking.

The Department of Posts, through a notification dated October 12, 2022, said, ‘The competent authority has decided to introduce an e-passbook facility. This 12.10.2022 National (Small) Savings Scheme has been launched to provide simplified and advanced digital facilities to the account holders.’

Account holders can use the registered mobile phone to access the e-passbook facility. The postal department said that this service is available free of cost.

With the introduction of this facility, post office small savings customers will be able to access account information anytime, anywhere without the need for net banking or mobile banking access. The account holder can use the e-passbook facility through the registered mobile number. The notification states that this service will be available free of cost.

Facilities available under e-Passbook:

  • Checking Balance: User can view the balance of each National Savings Scheme account using this option.
  • Mini Statements: Mini statements will be made available initially for PO Savings Accounts (POSA), Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts (SSA) and Public Provident Fund Accounts (PPF) and then gradually for other schemes. The most recent 10 transactions will be shown, and a short description can be downloaded in PDF format.
  • Full Details: Complete details will be made available gradually.
