Go First CEO Quits: Kaushik Khona, CEO of Go First Airline, which has been closed for the last seven months, has finally resigned. The airline has already started the process of being declared bankrupt. He wrote a mail to the company’s employees informing them about his resignation. In this he said that with a heavy heart I am telling you that November 30 is my last day in the company. The company has full potential to move forward. But, it is our misfortune that the Resolution Professional (RP) failed to find someone who can take Go First forward. Things had gone out of my control.

What was written in the email

In this email, Khona wrote that I joined the airline as CEO in 2020. During my second term, you all cooperated and supported me a lot. With its help I tried to fulfill my responsibilities. I will continue to provide full support in future also. We hoped that the airline would restart from June 2023. But unfortunately this could not happen. The Board of Directors initiated bankruptcy proceedings. Before this, Khona was also working with Go First from 2008 to 2011. This was his second stint with the company.

Said- I want all the employees to get their salaries

Kaushik Khona wrote that the employees worked with full responsibility and patience. But, we have not been able to pay salaries even for the last 6 months. For this we also demanded from RP, Committee of Creditors and Wadia Group. But, despite our best efforts, we failed. I want all of you to get your salary. But, I can’t stay here any longer. So, I have decided to go. I apologize.

Airline failed due to engine problem

Go First flights have been closed since May 3. Due to engine failure of American company Pratt & Whitney, Go First had to ground more than half of its aircraft. He was short of cash and had no money left even for fuel. Kaushik Khona claims that there was a loss of about Rs 8.9 thousand crore in 3 years due to engine problem. Go First is the budget airline of Wadia Group. Its first flight took place in November 2005 between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. It was known as Go Air. The airline changed its name to Go First in 2021.
