Now in Uttar Pradesh, if you park your car on the roadside outside your house, you will have to pay a fee for it. The state government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has implemented this new rule in 17 major cities.

Under this, parking fees will be charged from those who park their vehicles on the roadside at night or for a long time.

What is the new rule?

According to the information received, the cabinet of Yogi government has approved the ‘UP Municipal Corporation (Construction, Maintenance and Operation of Parking Space) Rules-2025’. The Urban Development Department has also issued its notification. Under this rule, parking vehicles outside homes will be charged and every municipal corporation will have to make arrangements for it.

In which cities will this rule be implemented?

This system will be started in these 17 cities of Uttar Pradesh:

Lucknow, Kanpur, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Agra, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Prayagraj,

Firozabad, Bareilly, Mathura, Meerut, Moradabad, Varanasi, Shahjahanpur and Saharanpur.

It is being told that a 12-member committee will be formed in these municipal

corporations, whose chairman will be the Municipal Commissioner. The committee will prepare a list of potential parking places in 90 days. Also, licenses will be issued under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model for parking development.

How much fee will have to be paid?

For cities with low population (less than 10 lakh), the fees have been fixed as follows:

This fee will be applicable at designated places and the contract will not be given near greenery or parks, so that the environment is not harmed.
