GSTR-8 Return Due Date:  Today i.e. August 10, 2022 is an important day for those filing Goods and Services Tax returns. Today is the last day to file GSTR-8 return. After that the fine will be levied. Those who have not done this work till now, they should settle it today or else the fine will have to be paid. E-commerce operators who have deposited TDS at source under Goods and Services Tax. Today is the last date for them to file GSTR-8 return for the month of July 2022. Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs CBIC has requested e-commerce operators to file their GSTR-8 return soon.

Who Files GSTR-8

Goods and Services Tax E-commerce operators registered through GST are required to file GSTR-8. An e-commerce operator is defined under the GST Act as any person who owns or manages a digital or electronic facility or platform for electronic commerce such as Amazon, etc. It is mandatory for all such e-commerce operators to be registered for GST registration as well as for collection of tax at source.

200 per day will be fined

E-commerce operators who do not file GSTR-8 by the stipulated time period, then they have to pay the penalty. As per the rules, a fine of Rs 100 per day is levied under CGST and Rs 100 under SGST. After the expiry of the last date, a total of Rs 200 has to be paid as fine every day. The maximum penalty amount is Rs 5,000. Not only this, along with the late fee, 18 percent interest has to be paid annually.
