Heavy Rain Alert: Bad weather conditions persist in the northeastern states of the country. Floods and landslides caused by rain have wreaked havoc. The rain is not going to stop here yet.
The Meteorological Department has expressed a forecast for other states of the country. Know the weather condition.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an orange alert for 11 states including Assam, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It has predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in these areas. The forecast says that winds will blow at a speed of 50-60 kmph in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, which can reach up to 70 kmph. Other states which are likely to experience light to moderate rain, thunder, lightning and strong winds on June 3 and 4 include Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Chances of rain in northeastern states
Light to moderate rain is expected at most places in Northeast India for the next 7 days. Heavy rain may occur at some places between June 3 and 5. Very heavy rain is expected in Assam and Meghalaya on June 3 and 4. Very heavy rain may also occur in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on June 3.
There is a possibility of rain in these states as well
On June 3 and 4, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. Light to moderate rain may occur at some places in Uttar Pradesh as well. There is also a possibility of hailstorm in Himachal Pradesh on June 3 and dust storm in western Rajasthan.
There will be rain in Bihar and Jharkhand
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive light to moderate rain at most places for the next 7 days. Heavy rain is likely at some places on 3 and 4 June. Light to moderate rain is likely at some places in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 40-50 km/hr between 3 and 7 June. Similar conditions may prevail in Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand on 3 and 4 June.
