Chandigarh- School holidays are continuously coming in Punjab in the month of April. Today, April 14, is a holiday in Punjab due to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jayanti. After this, this week, April 18, Friday, will be a holiday for Good Friday. During this period, schools, colleges, government offices and banks etc. will remain closed.

Due to the holiday on Friday, April 18, people can enjoy a long weekend and plan their travel. Let us tell you that the long weekend will start from Good Friday, April 18 and will be followed by a weekend on April 19 and 20, due to which you will get a three-day weekend.

Banks and Financial Institutions: According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across the country will remain closed on Good Friday. Apart from this, there will also be no trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Government Offices : The central and state governments have declared holidays for their offices. However, essential services like health, police and emergency services will continue to function without any disruption.

Social and Religious Significance

On Good Friday, special prayer meetings and processions will be held in churches across the country. The Christian community will observe this day with fasting, prayer and contemplation. On this occasion, non-Christian communities also give a message of peace and harmony.

Good Friday, which will be observed on April 18, 2025 this year, is an important day in Christianity. The day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
