Due to disruption of this service, EDR services including railway reservation, cancellation, charting, 139 services, counter services, internet booking will also remain suspended for some time. Some railway services suspended due to online database work

Indian Railways keeps making changes in its passenger reservation system from time to time. In recent times, many changes have been made in the passenger reservation system. Recently, the Ministry of Railways had informed a committee of Parliament that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is conducting a study of the existing system of PRS. For this, a consultant has been appointed for the purpose of giving suggestions for railway upgradation.

Changes happen from time to time in passenger reservation system

BJP in the last monsoon session of Parliament Member of parliament The report titled ‘Passenger Reservation System of Indian Railways’ was presented by the Standing Committee on Railways headed by Radha Mohan Singh. In this report, the committee noted that during the year 2019-20, the number of reserved tickets booked online through IRCTC website/app is 3 times more than the tickets purchased at the actual reservation center site.

The Standing Committee on Railways, headed by Singh, had also pointed out that the facility of e-ticketing is not only convenient for passengers, but also helps in reducing congestion at railway counters. With this, the problem of touts in Indian Railways will end, as well as the possibility of other frauds including counterfeit notes at the counters will also end.
