Indian Railway: Senior citizens will get discount on train tickets again, know how much

Actually senior citizens can get concession on rail tickets again. The committee says that the concession of senior citizens was abolished after the last two years i.e. Karna epidemic, which should be reviewed again. Referring to a report in Parliament, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Parliament, Rajaram Mohan Singh, said that due to the Corona epidemic, the exemption given to senior citizens was stopped keeping in mind the guidelines.

In this, elderly women whose age is more than 58 years. They were given 50 per cent concession on tickets and 40 per cent for men above the age of 60.

Railway is going to give relief in 11 category

The Railway Ministry has clarified that concession has been started in 11 categories including four categories of disabled, patients and students, but there is no idea to give exemption to senior citizens at present.

It is to be known that from the railway side, in more than 50 categories, 10 to 100% discount is provided in the fare.

Special discounts are available in these categories

These categories include disabled, mental patients, disabled travelers, sportspersons, actors, film technicians, policemen killed while fighting terrorism, army, Prime Minister-President awardees etc.

Senior citizens have been getting the maximum 80 percent of the discounts given by the Railways in all categories. At the same time, if the Railways takes seriously the suggestion of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, then senior citizens will start getting concessions again.
