At present, no official statement has come out from the Railways on the incident. But this incident is being considered as a big breach in the cyber security of the Railways after Delhi AIIMS.

According to the report of ‘Money Control’ website, this incident of stealing data of railway passengers (Indian Railways Data Breach) took place on 27 December. According to the report, a hacker forum has carried out this incident. The real identity of that hacker forum has not been revealed but it is being known as ‘Shadowhacker’. Now that hacker forum is selling this data of 3 crore passengers on dark web.

Information of 3 crore people leaked

The hacker group says that it has received many very personal information including email, mobile number of 30 million people who have booked tickets in the railways. Not only this, the hacker claims that he has also stolen the official email accounts of many government departments (Indian Railways Data Breach). These government email accounts have also been put on the dark web for sale.

Railways have kept silence

According to sources, no information has yet been revealed about how the cyber hacker (Indian Railways Data Breach) accomplished this work and how it was accessed by breaching the railway server. Railways have also kept silence on this major incident of data breach and have not made any comment till now.

Railway website also tampered with?

According to the report, cyber hackers have not only stolen the data of the passengers (Indian Railways Data Breach) but have also claimed to have tampered with the railway website. Now whether the tampering has happened with the booking portal of IRCTC or the website of Indian Railways has been hacked, it has not been confirmed yet.

Earlier in the year 2020, hackers had stolen the personal data of 90 passengers by carrying out a similar incident. This included essential information like their name, address, mobile number and email ID. Now after 2 years, the hackers have cleared their hands on the data of 3 crore passengers.
