According to the information received from the sources of Indian Railways, the age criteria for relaxation on the ticket can be changed. It is also expected that the government should provide concessional fare facility to people above 70 years of age. This facility was earlier for women of 58 years and those who have completed 60 years of age or more. The main reason for this is to adjust the financial burden on the railways by giving these concessions while retaining the subsidy for the elderly.

Let us tell you that before the Covid epidemic, that is, before March 2020, the railways used to give 50 percent discount to women aged 58 years and above and 40 percent to men who are 60 years of age and above. This discount was available for traveling by train in all classes. But this facility was abolished when the movement of trains was restored after the Corona period. Many people criticized this decision of the Railways.

Railways is also considering this, another option is also being considered by the Railways. The option is to introduce ‘Premium Tatkal’ scheme in all trains. This will help in getting higher revenue. This will help in bearing the burden of concessions. At present this scheme is applicable in about 80 trains. Premium Tatkal scheme is a quota introduced by Railways, which reserves certain seats with dynamic fare pricing. This quota is for the convenience of last-minute travel planners who are willing to spend a little extra.
