File an affidavit in the court like this

  • Let us tell you that changing surname is a legal process by adopting which you can change your surname.
  • After marriage, you will have to file an affidavit to your state government to change your surname.
  • After this it should be recognized by the State Government. For this you must have a marriage certificate. Along with this, it is also necessary to have a document with the old surname.
  • If you do not have a marriage certificate, then download the Court Marriage Form from the state government website, fill it and submit it to the marriage registrar.
  • After this your marriage certificate will be ready. After this, you should get a registered notary done to change the name.
  • Along with this, you will also have to tell why you want to change the name. After this, with the help of a witness, your affidavit will be made on stamp paper.

You can change your surname in your Aadhar card in this way:-

  • Most women update their husband’s surname in their Aadhar card after marriage.
  • In such a situation, if you also want to get this done, then for this you will first have to go to the Aadhaar Seva Center with your husband.

Step 2

  • You have to go to the center and take the correction form.
  • In this you have to fill your full name, Aadhaar number, mobile number and other information.
  • Also, in this form, tell what changes you want to make in the Aadhar card, like – surname.

Step 3

  • After this, fill the form and attach copies of some related documents (husband’s Aadhar card and marriage certificate etc.)
  • Then you have to go to the concerned officer with this form, where your surname will be updated.

Step 4

  • Now your biometrics is taken and photo is also clicked.
  • Your items are then updated by checking your form information.
  • The fee is then charged and your new surname is updated within a few days.
