LPG subsidy latest news: The new financial year is going to start from April 1st. There are going to be changes in many rules from the first day of the financial year. One such rule is related to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). In fact, the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme will continue to get a discount of Rs 300 on LPG cylinders during the financial year 2024-25. Let us tell you that this subsidy exemption was for till 31st March 2024 but recently the government has extended this relief till 31st March 2025. This will come into effect from the first day of the new financial year i.e. April 1, 2024.

Discount on 12 cylinders

Let us tell you that 12 refills are provided to the beneficiary category in a year. Under this, a subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder is given. The subsidy is deposited directly into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. In this way, Ujjwala beneficiaries get cylinders Rs 300 cheaper than normal customers. Beginning in 2016

Keeping in mind the rural and deprived poor families, the government launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in May 2016. This scheme has more than 10.27 crore beneficiaries till March 1, 2024. Let us tell you that India imports about 60 percent of its LPG requirement. The average LPG consumption of consumers of Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries has increased by 29 per cent from 3.01 refills in 2019-20 proportionately to 3.87 refills for 2023-24 (by January 2024).

100 rupees cheaper cylinder

On March 8, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the Central Government had made LPG cylinder cheaper by Rs 100. With this discount, LPG cylinder is now available for Rs 803 in the country’s capital Delhi.
