The production cost will be partially compensated.

IGL on Friday tweeted that this hike will partially offset the increase in the cost of production of gas. It is noteworthy that the government has made it necessary to use expensive imported LNG to meet the increased demand. Due to this the price of gas has increased. Public sector company GAIL fixes rates on an average of locally produced and imported gas before supplying it to city gas distributors. The prices of PNG have also increased in other cities of the country. However, IGL has not increased the prices of CNG. The price of CNG has been kept at Rs 75.61 per kg.
