2 Metro Stations Will Remain Closed: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Friday that ITO metro station will remain closed till further notice.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday announced that ITO metro station will remain closed till further notice. Earlier in the day, DMRC had announced to keep ITO metro station closed from 8 am to 6 pm. DMRC also announced the closure of Lok Kalyan Marg metro station in view of the protests by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Prime Minister’s residence is situated on Lok Kalyan Marg. Following the instructions of the police, DMRC announced the closure of these stations. DMRC posted on ‘X’, ‘On the advice of Delhi Police, Lok Kalyan Marg metro station except ITO metro station will remain closed till further notice.’

EdThe Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other political parties demonstrated across the country, including the national capital, on Friday against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. In the national capital Delhi, AAP leaders and workers demonstrated against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in protest against the arrest of Kejriwal. During the demonstration at ITO, the police asked the protesters to leave, citing the imposition of Section 144 in the area. After this the police took cabinet ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj into custody.

The headquarters of BJP and AAP are near ITO. In view of the protest, police closed the roads leading to BJP headquarters and ED office. This caused massive traffic jam at ITO intersection, Rajghat and Vikas Marg. In an advisory issued on the social media platform ‘X’, Delhi Traffic Police said that ‘in view of the proposed protest by a political party on DDU Marg in Delhi, there will be heavy traffic on IP Marg, Vikas Marg, Minto Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. DDU route will remain closed for traffic. Please avoid using these roads and plan your journey accordingly.
