These days strict steps are being taken by the government for road safety. Many new rules have been issued, which have been said to take action if they are not followed.

In this episode, Mumbai Police has now issued a new rule for those traveling by four wheelers. According to this rule, now it will be mandatory for the passengers sitting in the back seat of the car to wear a seat belt. Penal action will be taken for violating the rule.

Mumbai Traffic Police Commissioner has issued a press note. It has been informed in the press note that under the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act, 2019, if the driver of the car without wearing a seat belt and other passengers sitting with him are seen not wearing the seat belt, then they will be punished. This rule will come into effect from 1st November. The Mumbai Police has also appealed that drivers who do not have seat belts in their rear seats, should get them fitted at the earliest.

From November 1, strict action will be taken against passengers traveling on Mumbai roads without seat belts under Section 194 (B) of the 2019 Motor Amendment Act. Seat belts have also been made mandatory for other passengers in the car including the driver. These days road accidents are being seen continuously. Due to the slightest carelessness, people lose their lives and also put the lives of others at stake.

In view of this, the government is adopting strictness and new rules have been issued regarding road safety. Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had also talked about starting the seat belt alert system a few days ago. He had said that soon this rule will be implemented. If the passengers sitting in the car do not put on the seat belt, then an alarm will sound and then the violator will have to pay a fine.

The decision to implement the seat belt alert system was taken after the death of industrialist Cyrus Mistry in a road accident. Nitin Gadkari had also told that there are many Bollywood stars who are ready to promote for free to bring awareness among the people. Under this rule, passengers who do not wear seat belts during travel will be alerted through audio and video. Along with this, it was also said to install speed alarms in vehicles. In view of this, the Mumbai Police has issued rules for car drivers and passengers.
