New update on DA..! Dearness allowance Hike: Government employees’ salary will increase from this month, check details

After the increase in the dearness allowance of the government, 52 lakh central employees and 48 lakh pensioners will get good news on dearness allowance and dearness relief. The decision to implement DA from January 1 was taken by the government on March 27. Employees and pensioners have started getting 4 percent increased DA from January 1. Now the next dearness allowance will be applicable from July 1.

This figure increased in March after a decline in February

Before the DA of July is implemented, a big update has come for the central employees. According to media reports, the Ministry of Labor has released the AICPI index data for March on 28 April. After a decline in February, this figure has increased again in March. Earlier in February 2023 it had recorded a decline. After the jump in the figure, there could be an expected hike of up to 4 per cent in DA.

AICPI index climbed in March

The dearness allowance for January was announced in March 2023 based on the AICPI index data till December 2022. But the dearness allowance of July will be declared considering the data from January to June 2023 as the basis. In January, this figure had increased to 132.8 points. After this, it declined in February and it reached 132.7 points. It has bounced again in March and it has climbed up to 133.3 points.

In February, on the basis of the figure of 132.7, dearness allowance had reached close to 44 per cent. This time it has crossed 44 per cent. At present the dearness allowance is 42 per cent. Dearness Allowance for July will be announced on the basis of AICPI index data till June. This time it is expected to increase from 42 per cent to 46 per cent. The new dearness allowance may be announced in September, but it will be applicable from July 1.

How much DA will increase

After a 4 per cent hike in DA in January, the dearness allowance of central employees had gone up to 42 per cent. Now if there is a further increase of 4 per cent in this, then it will increase to 46 per cent. Let us tell you that under the 7th Pay Commission, the DA Hike of central employees is increased twice a year. DA of January 2023 has been declared. Now the DA of July 2023 has to be announced by the government.

Who releases the data?

Let us tell you that on the basis of AICPI index, it is decided that how much dearness allowance will be increased? The Ministry of Labor releases the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) data on the last working day of every month. This index has been prepared for 88 centers and for the entire country.
