That’s why the new system is being brought

Till three years ago, toll collection was done manually. But for the last few years, the service of Fastag was brought for toll collection. It was said about FASTag that this will save the time of the people and also the fuel of the vehicle will be saved in the time taken during toll. But the facility of fastag is not looking very beneficial. This neither made any difference in the long lines at the toll plaza nor did it reduce the fuel wastage of the people. On the other hand, according to the government, the toll collection has definitely increased through FASTag.

ANPR number plates will be installed on vehicles

There is talk of bringing a new system for collecting toll tax. Where now there is talk of implementing ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Reader) system. Apart from this, there is also talk of a GPS system. In the future, toll will be collected through these systems.

National Highway Authority is working on this system

The effort of the central government is also to reduce the physical toll plaza. The National Highway Authority is working for this. Efforts are now being made to add a new facility in this and the Road Transport Minister of India Nitin Gadkari has also given information about it. Gadkari has said that in the new systems, GPS toll system and new number plate system will be implemented.

How will the toll system and the new number plate system

Till now it is seen that while traveling on the highway, money is deducted from the fastag installed in the vehicle. But after the implementation of the new technology, the money will be deducted from the number plate of your vehicle. The advantage of this is also that people will now be charged on the basis of kilometer.

Money will be deducted on entry and exit

Fastag Nitin Gadkari had said in the Rajya Sabha that the central government is now exploring two options. First satellite based toll system where a car will have GPS and the toll will be deducted directly from the bank account of the car owner and second option toll will be collected through number plate. For this, an entry and exit point will be made on the highway in the system. The number plate will be scanned as soon as the vehicle enters and then the toll will be deducted according to the distance from where the vehicle will exit.

Number plate will be connected with software

It is not yet clear whether the new technology will be used for toll payment through the number plate or whether the old number plate will work only. According to the experts, a new number plate will be installed which will be linked to some software through which toll tax will be deducted.
