The verdict was delivered by a bench of Justice Harish Tandon, Justice Shampa Sarkar and Justice Rabindranath Samant. The court said that the concept of justice comes from the social moral sense. The bench noted the importance of social security of livelihood of unmarried or widowed girls.
Till now widows or unmarried daughters of deceased school teachers or education servants were not getting the benefit of family pension.There were many cases in the High Court on this issue. That is why a bench of three judges was constituted to dispose of them.
Whether unmarried and unmarried girls are eligible for family pension is reviewed. The bench gave this verdict only after that.
