Railways allows girls to travel free of cost in second class from MST till graduation. On the other hand, boys can travel for free in second class from MST till class 12th. Under this, the children of the madrassa are also included. Apart from this, general category students get the benefit of 50 percent discount in second and sleeper class fares.

Earlier, before March 2020, railways used to give 50 percent discount on fare to women and 40 percent discount to men for traveling by rail in all classes in case of senior citizens. The minimum age limit for elderly women to get this exemption from the Railways was 58 and for men was 60 years, but after the Corona period, all kinds of concessions given to them have been abolished.
