Under the National Food Security, the ration for the month of August has reached the shops. Which is to be distributed from 6 to 12 October. At some places, ration dealers have also started ration distribution. But from October there has been a big change in the ration scheme.

This time the card holders will have to pay , in fact, the free ration scheme was started from April 2020 amid the Corona epidemic. The government continued this scheme till June 2022. After the assembly elections, there was a delay in the distribution of ration due to derailment of the scheme. Due to this, the ration available under the scheme was distributed till September 2022. In lieu of the ration received under the ‘National Food Security Act’, the card holders will have to pay from this time.

Wheat will be available at the rate of Rs.2/kg and rice at Rs.3/kg from October, as already directed to the officials . Instructions have already been issued in this regard to all the district supply officers of the state. Apart from this, Antyodaya card holders will get 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice from the Uttar Pradesh government. Other card holders will be given 2 kg wheat and 3 kg rice per unit.

The scheme can last till the Lok Sabha elections, on the other hand, the Modi government has extended the period of ration received by the central government till December 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). However, some media reports are claiming that the government can continue this scheme till the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. No official statement has come out on this yet.

The Yogi government had started distribution of free ration to the poor during the Kovid epidemic. Earlier the government had extended it till March 2022. On his return to power in March, the scheme was again extended for three months.
