Will 500 rupee notes go out of circulation?

PIB issued a statement saying that no announcement has been made by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regarding the discontinuation of ₹ 500 notes. These notes are completely valid and will remain in circulation. It was said in the viral video that RBI will gradually start removing 500 rupee notes from 2026. But PIB called it a rumor and said that RBI has not issued any such policy or directive. PIB has appealed to the general public not to trust such false claims and also not to share them on social media.
