School Holiday: Big Announcements! Schools and colleges will remain closed in this state on July 28, due to heavy rain

Telangana Rains: The Telangana government has declared a holiday for schools, colleges and all educational institutions across the state tomorrow i.e. July 28 amid heavy rains and waterlogging.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain for eight districts of the state. “The government has decided to extend the holidays of all educational institutions (government, aided and private) in the state till July 28, 2023 (Friday) in view of the incessant rains and adverse weather conditions,” said the official notice from the education department. Schools will remain closed in Telangana on July 29 also due to Muharram.

State Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy had earlier announced a two-day holiday on July 26 and 27 for all private and public educational institutions in the state due to heavy rains, following the approval of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The announcement was made by the Directorate of School Education in Telangana and Hyderabad. It has been said in the instructions that immediate orders should be issued in this regard.

Government on high alert

The Telangana government has now put the entire state administration on high alert. As per IANS report, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari said that as per the directions of CM KCR, the flood situation in the state is being constantly monitored by district collectors and superintendents of police along with senior officers. It has been raining continuously since Wednesday night in many districts of the state, especially in North Telangana. 30 to 40 cm of rain has been recorded in the districts here.

Schools Closed

The state government had earlier issued orders to change the school timings in Telangana. According to the order, the schools will start at 9.30 am. While the primary schools will remain open till 4.15 pm. Upper primary and high schools will function till 4.45 pm. This decision has been taken due to heavy rains. These new timings were applicable to all schools in the state except those in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, which were instructed to follow the normal academic calendar.
