A big relief news has come for the electricity consumers of Bihar. The state government has made important changes in the software of smart prepaid meters, under which now the electricity of the consumers will not be cut until the consumption of 125 units is completed.

This new system will come into effect from August 1. After the announcement of giving 125 units of free electricity to the people of Bihar by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar this month, this change is being seen as a big gift for the consumers.

Under the new system, consumers with smart prepaid meters will be able to use electricity without interruption until they consume 125 units of electricity. No matter how many days it takes for this consumption to be completed, the balance of their meter will not be deducted. For example, if a consumer consumes 125 units of electricity in 10 days, then the balance will start getting deducted from his meter from the 11th day. This 125 unit limit will include both energy charge and fixed charge.

Promise of 125 units of free electricity

This move is in line with the state government’s announcement that promised to provide up to 125 units of free electricity to the citizens of Bihar. Earlier, the power used to be cut off as soon as the balance in the smart prepaid meter got exhausted, causing inconvenience to many consumers, especially those who recharged on a daily or weekly basis. This change will now help consumers ensure that their essential power supply is not interrupted even if their meter balance is low.

This decision of the Bihar government is a big relief for the electricity consumers of the state, especially the common people living in rural and urban areas. This will not only give them economic benefits but will also bring stability in power supply, which will greatly help daily life and small businesses. This initiative is definitely an important step towards making electricity services more accessible and consumer-friendly in the state.
