The country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI) has changed its locker policy. Under the new rules of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the bank is asking its customers to visit their nearest branch to sign the new locker rule agreement. State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest bank, has changed its locker policy. As per the new locker rules of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the bank has asked its customers to sign the new locker contract by visiting their nearest branch.

SBI has to settle the work related to bank locker by this date

SBI tweeted from its Twitter handle that all locker customers of SBI should go to the place where their locker is and sign the new locker contracts.

As per RBI instructions, all banks have to get 50 percent of the locker holders to sign new contracts by June 30. Whereas, 75 per cent lockers have to be signed by 30 September and 100 per cent by 31 December.

How much is the locker charge of the bank?

SBI sets the locker charges based on the size and location of its locker. Let us tell you that SBI charges Rs 500 along with GST on its small and medium-sized lockers and Rs 1,000 as registration charge and GST for large lockers.

Locker charges are decided on this basis

  • Let us tell you that SBI decides the rent of its locker on the basis of the city and the size of the locker.
  • If the customer is from a metro city, SBI charges Rs 2,000 plus GST for the small locker.
  • For small town or rural areas, SBI charges Rs 1,500 plus GST for a small locker.
  • In metro cities, customers have to pay Rs 4,000 plus GST for a medium-sized locker.
  • For medium-sized lockers in small towns or rural areas, SBI charges its customers Rs 3,000 plus GST.
  • Whereas in major metro cities, the bank charges Rs 8,000 plus GST for large size lockers and in smaller cities and rural areas, SBI charges Rs 6,000 plus GST for large size lockers.
