What can you do if banks are closed?

If banks are closed in your city, then things like depositing drafts or cheques cannot be done. But ATM and online banking services will be available for other banking services like cash withdrawal, transactions etc. You can withdraw money from ATM with debit card or transfer money through online banking.

So, if you have to do any banking work in November, plan your work keeping these holidays in mind.

Therefore, now the Eid-e-Milad holiday in Mumbai will be on 18 September instead of 16 September. After this decision of the Maharashtra government, the Reserve Bank of India has also issued a statement saying that its offices in Mumbai and Mumbai Suburban will now be closed on 18 September instead of 16 September.

RBI has said that there will be no transactions and settlements in government securities, foreign exchange, money market and rupee interest rate derivatives on September 18, 2024. Settlement of all outstanding transactions on September 18 will be postponed till the next working day i.e. September 19, 2024. Now government securities, foreign exchange, money market and rupee interest rate derivative markets will be operational on September 16.

Banks in Mumbai will remain closed on September 18

After this development, the Eid-e-Milad holiday in Mumbai banks will be on September 18 instead of September 16. Eid-e-Milad is also known as Milad-un-Nabi and Barawafat. This day is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

There is also a bank holiday in Sikkim on September 18 due to the Pang Lhabsol Festival. This festival is celebrated every year to pay respect and appease the guardian deities of Sikkim, especially Mount Kanchenjunga. It also commemorates the treaty of brotherhood between the Lepchas and the Bhutias and symbolizes the unity of the Sikkimese.

Where banks are closed on 16 September

Banks will be closed on September 16 on Eid-e-Milad in Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

On which other days banks are closed in September
