Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said on Monday, there is no dial-up subscriber now. High speed broadband services are being provided through optical fiber wireless technology.

Telecom regulator TRAI has released a draft to lay down regulations on quality of service for dial-up and leased line internet access services. There is no dial-up subscriber anymore. High speed broadband services are being provided through optical fiber wireless technology.

Therefore, it has been decided to repeal the Rules on Quality of Service of Dial-up and Leased Line Internet Access Services, 2001 (4 of 2001) from the date of its notification. Opinion in this regard has been sought on the draft till April 17. A dial-up connection occurs when two or more communication devices use the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to connect to an Internet service provider.
