Uber-Rapido bikes will run again in Delhi, High Court stays Kejriwal government’s decision

The Delhi government had banned the bike service of Rapido, Ola, Uber, on which the Delhi High Court has now taken a big decision. In February 2023, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi banned the bike service of cab aggregator companies like Ola-Uber and Rapido.

The companies had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the government’s decision. The court has given a big relief to these companies by staying the decision of the government. The Delhi High Court has given relief to the cab aggregator companies by ordering a stay on the notice from the Delhi Transport Department.

The court reprimanded the government and said that it is not right to impose such ban on the service of these companies. In fact, the Delhi government has banned the two-wheeler rental service. The government had said that the companies were not following the rules. Cab aggregator companies filed a petition in the High Court against this decision.

After hearing the case, the court has directed the Transport Department of Delhi to first frame a policy for cab companies. Until he makes a policy, he should not take any step against these companies.

In fact, in February 2023, the Delhi government had banned the companies providing bike taxi service in the state. The Delhi Transport Department had said that the bikes with private registration numbers were being used for the bike service of Ola-Uber.

Private numbers are being used for commercial use, which is against the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. According to ET, now no strictness will be done against Rapido bike, Ola-Uber bike in Delhi. Until the Delhi government makes a policy regarding bike service, until they have got relief.
