The facility of ‘Aadhaar’ number registration of newborns along with their birth certificates is expected to be available in all the states in the next few months. Government sources have given this information. With the introduction of this facility, the child will get the Aadhaar number along with the birth certificate. This will get rid of the difficulties of getting Aadhaar made later. The government has taken this decision in view of the increasing use of Aadhaar.

At present, the facility of Aadhaar registration of newborn children is available in 16 states. This process started a year ago and gradually many states were added to it. Work is going on in this direction in other states also. Till now it happens that the birth certificate is made at the time of the birth of the child and later the Aadhaar is made. It kind of becomes a double task which is a waste of time. But now both the work will be done together and both the papers will also be found together.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) expects this facility to be rolled out in all the states in the next few months. This will make it easier for those people in whose house a child has been born. The biometric information of children up to the age of five is not taken. This information is updated when the child is five and then 15 years old. The base of young children is formed by linking the base of their parents. When children grow up and become capable of capturing fingerprints, their biometrics are taken. This is how Aadhaar is updated.

According to sources, the government’s aim is to ensure that the child’s Aadhaar is issued along with the birth certificate and for this UIDAI is working continuously. The source said that this process requires a computer-based system of birth registration and this facility is being started in the states where it is available. In many states, this work was going on as a pilot project, but in view of its success, it is being taken forward.

In the states where the facility of giving Aadhaar number with birth certificate is going on, 16 states are included so far. But now it is gradually being extended to all the states. So far, whenever a birth certificate is issued in these 16 states, its message is sent to the UIDAI system. After this, as soon as the details like photograph and address of the child are received, his Aadhaar number is generated. In this way both the work gets done together and both the papers are also issued in the name of the child.
