Big update from ground zero

Another high power machine ordered for cutting iron rods and steel in Uttarkashi Tunnel will be brought from Dehradun via helicopter. The machine is effective in cutting iron from inside the pipe. This machine has just been called into the tunnel as part of efforts to remove the stuck part of the auger machine.

Will the operation be handed over to the army?

Today, on the 14th day of Uttarkashi rescue operation, there is continuous brainstorming on the strategy of the rescue operation. Meanwhile, today at 1 pm the news came that this rescue operation can now be handed over to the army. The news is coming from sources that different agencies are working on the site.

Plan B was considered

Work has started regarding Plan B in Uttarkashi rescue operation. A machine is being sent for vertical drilling above the tunnel. A plan has been made for rescue in the tunnel through vertical drilling with this machine.

CM Dhami reached the site

Chief Minister Dhami reached the rescue site some time ago.

Will be successful in getting the labor brothers out safely: CM Dhami

State CM Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote on his social media account – Prime Minister Modi is very sensitive about the workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel. The Prime Minister is asking about the well-being of the stranded workers every day. He is taking detailed information about the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the tunnel. Teams of central agencies, state administration and international experts are working on all options, we will soon be successful in evacuating the labor brothers safely.

The auger machine was breaking down again and again.

According to information received from sources, it has been decided in a high level meeting that if the auger machine malfunctions again, then the help of manual drilling with modern equipment can also be taken. The drilling work is going on under the supervision of experts.

Problem in auger machine due to rebar trap getting stuck

Today’s biggest news of the rescue operation of Uttarkashi Tunnel is that the operation has become a big challenge due to the mesh of rebar getting stuck while drilling with the auger. The auger machine stopped during drilling of 10 meters. A high level meeting is going to be held shortly, in which a decision will be taken regarding vertical drilling. can be taken. There is still problem in operating the auger machine. Therefore SJVNL can take a decision regarding vertical drilling. The entire rescue operation was discussed in this high level meeting. Will happen.

It will take hours to create a manual path

Uttarkashi Silkyara Tunnel rescue may take more time. Because it will take hours to make the manual path. Experts engaged in the tunnel are now considering a new strategy.

Let us tell you that last Friday the rescue operation was again disrupted due to the arrival of iron rods. Saturday is the 14th day of the rescue operation being conducted on a war footing to rescue workers trapped in the collapse of a part of the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel on the Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.

‘Don’t speculate on the timeline’

Giving details of the rescue operation, officials said on the 13th day of the rescue that if there is no obstruction of any kind (Uttarakhand Tunnel Update), then about 4-5 meters can be drilled in an hour with the auger machine. This is a very difficult and challenging campaign. At the same time, the media has also been advised not to speculate about the time frame for completion of the rescue operation, as this creates a wrong impression.

Timeline of the rescue operation conducted after the accident that occurred on Diwali day on 12th November.

November 12: On the day of Diwali, at around 5.30 am, a part of the under-construction Silkyara-Dandalgaon tunnel collapsed, 41 workers were trapped. Rescue work was started by Uttarkashi district administration and oxygen, electricity and food items were made available to the trapped workers through pipes by creating pressure from the compressor.

Several agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force, Border Roads Organization (BRO) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), which is constructing the project, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) are involved in the rescue operation. Joined.

November 13: Contact was established with the workers trapped in the tunnel through a pipe to supply oxygen. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached the spot amid rescue operations.

There was no significant progress in removing the debris accumulated in the collapsed part of the tunnel, while the ongoing landslide from above made rescue operations difficult. As a result, the debris accumulated in an area of 30 meters spread up to 60 meters.

A strategy was made to evacuate the workers by strengthening the loose debris with the help of ‘shotcreting’ and then drilling and inserting a large diameter steel pipeline.

November 14: With the help of auger machine, 800 and 900 mm diameter pipes were brought to the spot for horizontal drilling in the debris. However, rescue operations were hampered by debris falling into the tunnel and minor injuries to two rescue workers.

A team of experts started surveying the tunnel and the soil around it.

Supply of food, water, oxygen and electricity continues to the people trapped in the tunnel. Some people in the tunnel complained of vomiting, after which medicines were also provided to them.

November 15: Dissatisfied with the performance of the first drilling machine, NHIDCL ordered a state-of-the-art American auger machine from Delhi to speed up the rescue work.

16 November: High capacity American auger machine was added and installed in the tunnel. The machine started working after midnight.

November 17: After working overnight, the machine drilled 22 meters and inserted four steel pipes. While laying the fifth pipe, a loud noise was heard due to the machine hitting something, after which the drilling work was stopped. The machine also got damaged. After this, another high capacity auger machine was called from Indore to assist in the rescue operations.

November 18: Due to the fear of debris falling due to vibration from the heavy machine in the tunnel, drilling could not start. The team of officials and experts from the Prime Minister’s Office decided to work together on five plans, including the option of reaching the workers by drilling horizontally above the tunnel.

November 19: Drilling halted while Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed the rescue operation and said horizontal drilling using auger machines was the best option to reach the workers. He expressed hope of getting success in two to two and a half days.

November 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Dhami on phone and took stock of the ongoing rescue work in the tunnel and stressed on keeping the morale of the workers high. Rescue workers drilled into the debris and inserted a six-inch diameter pipeline, which helped supply large quantities of food, clothing and other essential items to the workers trapped in the tunnel. However, drilling stopped due to boulders coming in front of the auger machine and could not be started.
