Now the government has made a big announcement regarding this high speed train. The country’s high-speed Vande Bharat trains will now be made of aluminium. That’s why these trains will prove to be more light and energy efficient than before. According to the information, the coaches of Vande Bharat train will now be made of aluminum instead of steel. In the first phase, 100 aluminum-bodied Vande Bharat trains will be manufactured.

Railway had asked for bids

For this, Railways had recently invited bids for new Vande Bharat aluminum trains, on which many companies have bid for manufacturing and maintenance of trains. Among these applicants, France’s Alstom, Hyderabad’s Medha Servo Drives have bid for the project, while the joint venture of Russian firm Transmashholding (TMH) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has also agreed to manufacture and maintain 200 lightweight Vande Bharat trains. lowest bid for.

According to the information, the consortium has bid about Rs 58,000 crore, in which the cost of manufacturing a train set is Rs 120 crore, which is less than the cost of the last Vande Bharat trains made by ICF-Chennai at Rs 128 crore per set. The second lowest bid was from Titagarh-BHEL, which quoted the cost of manufacturing one Vande Bharat at Rs 139.8 crore.

Got only 10 trains so far

Although, no official announcement has been made yet, but it is believed that the manufacturing of the upcoming Vande Bharat trains will now be done by the Russian firm Transmashholding (TMH) and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The country has received only ten Vande Bharat trains so far. This fixed target is far away from 200 Vande Bharat trains. Therefore, to speed up the work of train manufacturing, the Railways had decided to seek the cooperation of private companies.

For the first time, Vande Bharat trains made by these companies will have aluminum coaches. Till now these semi-high speed trains were being made of stainless steel. The aluminum body will make Vande Bharat trains lighter and more energy efficient. Also, the cost of these trains will also come down. According to the terms of the railway deal, Indian Railways will provide infra and factory manufacturing facilities to these companies. But apart from manufacturing the trains, these companies will also have to help in maintenance for the next 35 years.
