Work From Home : 100% employees working in SEZ units can get the facility of work from home!

All employees of units located in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) can get the facility of work from home. Employees are unable to come to the office due to the restrictions of Kovid-19 implemented at many places in different countries. In view of this, the Ministry of Commerce is considering starting work from home for all employees. There are 8 special economic zones in India. These are located in Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

According to a media report, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal gave this information on Tuesday. At present, work from home is allowed in SEZs for a maximum period of one year and this facility can be given only to 50 percent of the total employees. Goyal said that the government has received requests from many sectors to increase the scope of work from home.

Work from home increased exports

Piyush Goyal said that during the Corona period, the government had given permission for work from home in SEZs. It yielded good results and everyone welcomed the move. This helped a lot in increasing the exports of India’s service sector. Last year, service sector exports stood at $254 billion. Goyal expressed hope that this year it will increase further. The Union Minister said that work from home will help in generating employment opportunities in small towns like Rajkot and Una.

All sectors will be involved

The Union Minister said that the benefit of 100% work from home facility can be given to all the sectors present in the SEZ. He said that it is in the interest of the country to allow work from home. Addressing the participants of the Board of Trade meeting, Goyal also stressed on the need for more trade agreements with developed countries. He said that the participants should focus on the possibilities of FTAs ​​in each sector. Strategies and measures were discussed in the meeting to set export targets, new foreign trade policy and to increase domestic manufacturing.
