There is important news for central employees. Right now their salary is fixed under the 7th Pay Commission, but now it is being discussed in the 8th Pay Commission. Some developments are also making headlines regarding this. Meanwhile, another news has come which is important for the central employees.

Appeal for the establishment of the 8th Pay Commission

According to media reports, recently the Railway Senior Citizen Welfare Society recently appealed to the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to establish the 8th Pay Commission from January 1, 2024. According to the society, next year dearness allowance and dearness relief are expected to cross 50 per cent.

‘The minimum wage was wrongly proposed’

the society told the government that the 7th Pay Commission had put forward its report in February 2017. Its execution orders were issued in July and August 2017 with the provision that the arrears of revised salary would be paid from January 1, 2016. The society said that the minimum wage in the 7th Pay Commission was ‘wrongly proposed’.

‘Need for change in salary and allowance’

According to media reports, the society says that in future salary revision should happen when dearness relief and dearness allowance are 50 per cent or more of the basic salary. There is a need to change the salary structure to neutralize the effect of inflation. From January 2024, DA is expected to be more than 50 per cent. In such a situation, there is a need for change in salary and allowances from January 2024.

The society said that pay commissions take years to present and implement reports, in such a situation, the establishment of the 8th pay commission should be done as soon as possible.

What is the government’s stand

According to media reports, last year the Union Minister of State for Finance had said that no proposal regarding the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission is under consideration. Perhaps there will be no need to set up another pay commission. Let us tell you that at present, dearness allowance is being given at the rate of 42 percent to the central employees and there is a possibility of 4 percent increase in their DA in July.
