ITR Filing Update: The work of filing Income Tax Return for the financial year 2021-22 (AY 2022-23) is going on in full swing. As the last date of July 31 is approaching, people are being told that the site is hanging and many types of issues are coming.
According to the latest update given by the Income Tax Department, more than 3.4 crore returns have been filed through the e-filing portal till 12 midnight of July 26 for the financial year 2021-22. This time there will be no change in the last date, in the tweet made by the department, it was told that for the assessment year 2022-23 (Assessment Year 2022-23) till July 26, 2022, more than 3.4 crore income tax returns have been filed.
The last date for filing income tax returns is July 31, 2022. An appeal was made by the department to file your return before July 31 to avoid any late fee. The Income Tax Department has refused to extend the last date under any circumstances this time. In 2020-21, 5.89 crore ITRs were filed, it was told by the department that for the financial year 2021-22, till July 20, 2.3 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) were filed.
A total of 5.89 crore ITRs were filed till December 31, 2021 with the date extended in the last financial year (2020-21). With 3.4 crore income tax returns filed till July 26, it is expected that this number will increase to 5 crore by July 31.
However, as the last date is approaching, complaints are being made from people about the issue in the e-filing website. The date will not extend beyond July 31, the Revenue Secretary had said that the government has no idea to extend the date for filing ITR beyond July 31. Like the last two years, this time too the last date for tax filing was expected to be extended, but now the government has made its stand clear.
