What is e-passport?
First of all, let us know what is e-passport? Let us tell you that this is a kind of electronic passport. A chip has been installed on its cover, in which all the information like name of the passport holder, date of birth, passport number, photograph and fingerprint are present.
How to apply for e-passport online
- To apply for e-passport, you first have to visit the official website of passport service.
- Here you will have to create your account by clicking on the register or login option.
- After this, you will have to go to new passport or passport reissue and fill the application form.
- After filling the application form you will have to go to Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra
- You will have to take an appointment by selecting the date and time as per your convenience.
- After getting the appointment date, you will have to pay the application fee for e-passport.
- Finally, you will have to go to Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra and get your biometric data and document verification done.
These documents will be needed
- For e-passport, you can show address proof like Aadhaar card, electricity bill, bank passbook.
- For proof of date of birth, birth certificate, PAN card, high school mark sheet will have to be shown.
- You will also need to show your ID.
- If you are renewing your passport, you will have to take your old passport with you.
- Make sure to carry with you the original copies of all the documents along with their photocopies.
