Mumbai. There is big news for those who travel by local train in the country’s financial capital Mumbai. Now, like the Delhi Metro, the doors of Mumbai local train will also be closed.
The Railway Board has taken this big decision in view of the recent accidents. According to sources, the Railways has started making coaches in the Chennai factory which will have automatic doors. If everything goes well, this new facility will be started on a trial basis from October this year and by the end of the year, this train will start running on the tracks of Mumbai.
How will the door system work?
The doors will open as soon as the train stops at the station. Passengers will get a fixed time to board and disembark. The train will run only after the doors are closed. Initially, 2 such coaches will be installed in every local train. Railways had also conducted such a trial in 2023 but it was not successful due to technical difficulties. This time a new system has been prepared by correcting the old mistakes. With the implementation of this system, travel will be more safe. The chances of falling or accident during the crowd will be reduced and you will get a metro-like experience.
