Actually, Railways has implemented a new provision. Under this provision, the supervisory cadre will get a chance to reach higher pay scale at par with Group ‘A’ officers. With this, about 80 thousand railway employees will get an opportunity to increase their salary, who are facing salary stagnation. Along with this, there will also be opportunities for promotion.

Announcing the new provision on Wednesday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that there was a stagnation in the pay scale of the supervisory cadre in Level-7 of the Railways and there was little scope for their promotion.

Addressing a press conference here, he said, “For the last 16 years, there was a demand for an increase in the pay scale of the supervisor cadre. The only way of promotion was to get selected by giving Group ‘B’ examination. Now provision has been made for 50 per cent employees to go from level 7 to level 8. “A provision has been made for 50 per cent employees in the non-executive grade to be promoted from Level-8 to Level-9 in four years,” he said.

The move is expected to benefit 40,000 supervisory category employees such as station masters, ticket checkers, traffic inspectors. The increase in the pay scale means that everyone will get an additional salary of Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 per month on an average.
