IRCTC: Reservation quota of six berths in sleeper class of long distance trains and reservation quota of six berths in third AC coaches of air-conditioned express trains including Garib Rath, Rajdhani, Duronto have been reserved for women passengers.

A big announcement has been made by Indian Railways for women. After this, women will not have to worry for a seat in the train. The Railway Minister has made a big announcement keeping in mind the convenience of women. Just as separate seats are reserved for women in bus and metro, in the same way Indian Railways will also reserve seats for women.

A plan has also been prepared for security, berths have been reserved for women passengers in long distance trains by the Indian Railways. Along with this, a plan will also be prepared for the safety of women. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that for the comfortable travel of women in long distance trains, Indian Railways has started many facilities including setting reserve berths.

Six berths will be reserved in sleeper class The Union Minister said that six berths will be reserved in sleeper class in long distance mail and express trains. Six berths have been reserved for female passengers in the third AC coach (3AC class) of fully air-conditioned express trains including Garib Rath, Rajdhani, Duronto.

Reservation for women 45 years of age and above

Six to seven lower berths in each sleeper coach, four to five lower berths in air-conditioned 3 tier (3 AC) coach and four to five lower berths in air conditioned 2 tier (2 AC) coach Three to four lower berths have been reserved for senior citizens, women passengers of 45 years and above and pregnant women. Let us tell you that the reservation will be done on the basis of the number of coaches of that class in the train.

The Railway Minister said, ‘Special arrangements have been made for the safety of women passengers in trains. ‘Police’ and ‘Public Order’ are state subjects under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India, however, Railway Protection Force (RPF) GRP and District Police will provide better security to passengers.’

Along with this, steps are being taken by the Railways with the help of GRP for the safety of women passengers as well as other passengers on trains and stations. The Railway Protection Force had launched a pan-India initiative ‘Meri Saheli’ last year, with the aim of providing security to women passengers traveling by trains throughout their journey.
