Liquor shops Closed: Liquor shops will remain closed for 4 days in Delhi, government declared dry day

Wine lovers must read this news. The Delhi government has declared 4 dry days for the upcoming festivals. It has been said by the government that liquor shops in Delhi will remain closed on Muharram, Independence Day, Janmashtami and Eid-e-Milad.

Please inform that Muharram is on 29th July. Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15 August. Apart from this, Janmashtami is on 7th September and Eid-e-Milad is on 28th September. Liquor shops in Delhi will remain closed on all these dates.

The festival season is about to start soon in the country. In view of which the Delhi government has taken this decision. It is already a rule on Independence Day that liquor shops remain closed on this day. Means Dry Day is already declared on Independence Day. Apart from this, in view of the festivals, the state governments can take a decision on their behalf regarding liquor shops.

It is being told that a proposal was given to the CM by the Excise Department to keep liquor shops closed during these four special days. After this, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved this proposal. Explain that every three months, the Delhi government issues a list of dry days.

An excise department official said, “As per excise rules, license holders are not allowed to sell liquor on dry days. This restriction does not apply to hotels, bars, clubs or some other places on this day. However, serving of liquor is prohibited in all these places as well on Independence Day, Republic Day and the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. At present, there are about 21 dry days in Delhi in a year. However, when the Delhi government came up with a new liquor policy, suddenly these dry days were reduced from 21 to 3. However, the Excise Policy 2021-22 was withdrawn by the government when the CBI registered a case regarding the alleged scams in this policy.

The official said that the schedule of dry days is issued by the Excise Department every year and the number of dry days may increase on elections and some other special occasions. How many dry days will there be in a year? Its number is not fixed and the government can make changes in it.
