Delhi Ghaziabad Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor Update: Now the journey from Delhi to Meerut from the country’s capital is going to be very easy.
In fact, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) started the trial run of Namo Bharat Train between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan station of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor on Saturday (April 13) night. Let us tell you that Sarai Kale Khan station is the starting station of the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor.
During this trial, the train was run in manual mode on the down line at a slow speed. During this trial run, the Namo Bharat train crossed the Yamuna river for the first time. This bridge of about 1.3 km is built on 32 pillars, out of which 626 meters is above the Yamuna river. This bridge has been built parallel to the DND Yamuna bridge. Apart from this, the train crossed the Barpula flyover and the ring road and completed its journey till Sarai Kale Khan station.
Trial run on 4.5 km section
The distance from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan is about 4.5 km. As soon as this section is operational, passengers will experience AC, fast and comfortable travel from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut. The work of building Sarai Kale Khan station is going on at a fast pace. This station will be connected to Delhi Metro’s Pink Line, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT and Ring Road Bus Stand.
At present, Namo Bharat train is running from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South.
The total length of the Delhi section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor is 14 km, which includes Anand Vihar (underground), New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan stations. Of these, the operation of Namo Bharat trains has already started on Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. At present, Namo Bharat trains are running in the 55 km section from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. There are 11 stations on this route.
Namo Bharat Train will soon start running on 82 kms.
NCRTC plans to start train operations on the entire 82-kilometer long Delhi-Meerut corridor by the end of this year, so that the distance from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram, Meerut can be covered in less than 1 hour.
