It will start on 19 April

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and many other dignitaries will also be present on this historic occasion. At present, rail service in Kashmir is limited only from Baramulla to Sangaldan. Long distance trains coming to Katra stop there. But now this Vande Bharat Express will go directly from Katra to Srinagar and Baramulla, due to which the general public and tourists will get direct train facility to the Kashmir Valley for the first time. Soon this service will be extended to Jammu as soon as the work of the station is completed.

The journey will be completed in two and a half hours

This train will cover a distance of about 150 km in just 2 hours and 30 minutes. The most special thing about this journey will be that the world’s highest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, will also be on this route. It is being told that Prime Minister Modi will also visit this bridge and from there will come to Katra and dedicate the train service to the public and address a public meeting.

It is noteworthy that the 272 km long railway line constructed under the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project has been designed with the objective of promoting tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and connecting this region with the rest of the country.
