Hearing on petition against merger of schools

Along with this, a hearing will be held in the Lucknow bench of the High Court on Friday against the merger of primary schools. The order regarding the merger of the state’s council primary schools has been challenged in the High Court. A petition filed by Krishna Kumari and others against this order will be heard.

The petition has challenged the order of the Primary Education Department dated June 16. Arrangements have been made to merge the state’s primary schools into upper primary or composite schools based on the number of children. The petition has said that this decision of the government is going to violate the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

The argument given in the petition regarding the deprivation of children from education

Apart from this, it has also been argued that due to merger, the schools of young children will be far away, due to which they may be deprived of their education. Whereas under the Right to Education Act, it is the legal responsibility of the government to provide nearby schools for primary education to children.
