You will be able to change your travel date from the comfort of your home through the IRCTC website or mobile app.

Seat Not Confirmed
The new rule clearly states that if you change your travel date, you will receive a confirmed seat on the next date, depending on the train’s seating capacity. The fare may also be higher, but you will simply have to pay the higher fare.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told NDTV in an interview that this new system could be implemented as early as January 2026. This facility will relieve passengers of the hassle of canceling or rebooking tickets. In an interview with NDTV, he clarified that this system has been designed in the interest of passengers, to relieve them of the hassle of the cancellation process.

An official statement said that the purpose of this step is to ensure that the benefits of the reservation system reach the real users and to prevent misuse by unauthorized or dishonest agents. Also, it has been said that the new rule will be applicable exclusively on online booking through the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and its mobile app.

The system will be strengthened

The statement said that the existing restriction preventing authorized ticket agents from booking tickets during the first 10 minutes of reservation on the first day will continue. The time and process of booking through Computerized Reservation System (PRS) counters will remain unaffected. The statement further said that this step will strengthen the online ticketing environment and at the same time reduce fraudulent bookings. The Railways has said that to implement this necessary change, instructions have been issued to the Center for Railway Information System IRCTC to make technical changes. Along with this, zonal railway officials have also been instructed to issue guidelines and ensure compliance with the rules.

How much luggage can passengers carry in which coach

Indian Railways has set the limit of free luggage according to the class of passengers. According to this limit, First AC passengers can carry up to 70 kg of luggage. Second AC passengers can carry up to 50 kg and Third AC passengers can carry up to 40 kg. Apart from these, Sleeper class passengers can also carry up to 40 kg of luggage while General and Second Sitting passengers can carry up to 35 kg. According to the rules of the Railways, there will be a relaxation of carrying up to 10 kg more luggage than the set limit, but if the weight is more than that, the passengers will have to go to the station and book the luggage.

Penalty will have to be paid for carrying more than the prescribed limit

If a passenger is found carrying more luggage than the booking amount, he will be charged. This charge will be 1.5 times the normal rate. This means that carrying more weight than the limit without booking can be costly.

The Railway Minister said that the Railways has also recently launched the ‘Railvan’ app, through which passengers can book both reserved and unreserved tickets from their mobile. Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, the Railways has reduced the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of reserved tickets to 60 days from November 1, 2024, which was earlier 120 days. According to the Minister, this change has been made to improve the booking trend and reduce the incidents of cancellation.

Railways is increasing Non-AC coaches

The Railway Minister said that the Railways has taken major steps to facilitate general class passengers. The percentage of non-AC coaches has now reached about 70% and a special programme has been launched to build 17,000 new non-AC general and sleeper coaches in the next five years. In the financial year 2024-25 itself, 1,250 general coaches have been added to long distance trains.

The new system will be based on the latest cloud technology, making the ticket booking experience faster, safer and more convenient.

The old system has been in place since 2010

The existing PRS system was implemented in 2010 and runs on Itanium servers and OpenVMS (Virtual Memory System). Since this technology is now outdated, it has become necessary to upgrade it to the latest cloud-based system. This will eliminate the problem of bottlenecks and slow processing in ticket booking.

Booking will become even easier with the Railvan app

For the convenience of passengers, Railways has also launched ‘RailOne’ app, through which both reserved and unreserved tickets can be booked from mobile. Apart from this, Railways has reduced the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of reserved tickets from 120 days to 60 days from 1 November 2024. Its aim is to balance the trend of ticket booking and reduce the cases of cancellation.

Emphasis on ordinary class coaches

The Railway Minister also informed that the Railways is rapidly increasing the number of non-AC coaches for the convenience of general class passengers. At present, the percentage of non-AC coaches in long distance trains is close to 70%. There is a plan to manufacture 17,000 new non-AC general and sleeper coaches in the next five years. In the year 2024-25 itself, 1,250 general coaches have been added to long distance trains.

Booking can be done from 14th August

According to the news, under the “Round Trip Package for Festive Rush” scheme, booking of such train tickets will start from August 14, 2025, in which the journey should be between October 13 to October 26, 2025. The return journey will have to be booked between November 17 and December 1, 2025 through the “Connecting Journey” feature. Advance reservation period will not be applicable on return ticket booking. This scheme will be applicable to all classes and trains, except those trains in which flexi-fare system is applicable, and will be valid only for confirmed tickets.

To avail the discount on the ticket, the passenger has to first book an onward ticket and then book a return ticket with connecting journey feature for the same class and OD pair. This facility is available both online and across the counter. One thing to note is that no refund, correction or other discount will be given on tickets booked under this scheme.

Railways is redeveloping the stations

Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, 1,300 railway stations are being redeveloped across the country, out of which work has been completed on 104. The aim of this scheme is to improve and modernize the stations across the railway network and provide better facilities to the passengers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the station redevelopment scheme in 2023. Of the 1,300 stations in which redevelopment work is about to be completed, 132 of them are located in Maharashtra.

A total of 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are running in the country

Indian Railways has launched Vande Bharat Express trains to provide better travel experience to passengers. These semi-high-speed trains, manufactured at the Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), are equipped with modern coaches, advanced safety features and passenger amenities. Currently, a total of 144 Vande Bharat Express trains are running on different routes of the country. Out of these, 22 Vande Bharat trains are running on various stations of Maharashtra and 8 Vande Bharat trains are running on various stations of Madhya Pradesh.

Number of passengers in Vande Bharat

According to the report, the total passenger occupancy in Vande Bharat Express trains is 102.01 per cent in FY 2024-25. However, in the current financial year i.e. FY 2026, the passenger occupancy in these new-age trains is 105.03 per cent (till June 2025).

The three new Vande Bharats that the Prime Minister is going to launch include the Bengaluru-Belgavi Vande Bharat. Apart from this, Vande Bharat will be run from Ajni in Nagpur to Pune and from Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra. PM Modi is on a visit to Karnataka on Sunday and will flag off all three Vande Bharats from there.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi posted, “PM Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat trains during his Karnataka visit this Sunday. These new Vande Bharat trains will run between Bengaluru-Belagavi, Ajni-Pune in Nagpur and Amritsar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. As per my earlier request, Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat train has been approved. This train will leave Belagavi at 5:20 am and reach Bengaluru at 1:50 pm.”

Similarly, the return journey from Bengaluru will start at 2:20 pm and reach Belagavi at 10:40 pm. This Vande Bharat will improve connectivity between Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubli, Dharwad and Belagavi. Different limits have been set for carrying luggage from general bogie to AC first class. Railways has said that if passengers of each class carry luggage more than the limit set for them, then they will be fined.

Railways has said that different limits have been imposed for passengers travelling in general bogies, sleeper and AC bogies. However, Railways has also given some relaxations over and above the limit of carrying luggage. This additional relaxation is different for each class of bogie. If a passenger carries more luggage than the prescribed limit, he will be fined per kilogram.

What is the limit in general bogie?

If you are travelling in general bogie of the train, then the railway has set a limit of 35 kg for this. This means that a passenger can travel with a weight of up to 35 kg with his ticket. In this class, the railway also gives an additional discount of 10 kg. In this sense, a passenger is allowed to carry a weight of up to 45 kg. If the luggage is more than this, the railway can impose a fine of Rs 10 to Rs 50 per kg.

What is the limit in Sleeper and Third AC?

Railways have kept the limit of carrying luggage same for Sleeper and Third AC classes. Passengers travelling in both the classes are allowed to carry up to 40 kg of weight. Apart from this, Railways also allows carrying additional weight up to 10 kg. In this way, passengers travelling in Sleeper and Third AC can carry up to 50 kg of weight with them. A fine can be imposed for carrying more weight than this.

What is the limit in Second and First AC?

Railways has fixed the limit for carrying luggage in Second and First AC classes as well. In Second AC, one can travel with up to 50 kg of luggage. Apart from this, per passenger is also allowed to carry 10 kg extra luggage. In this way, every passenger can carry more than 60 kg of weight in Second AC. Similarly, in First AC also Railways has fixed the weight limit of 70 kg per passenger. Apart from this, per passenger is allowed to carry additional weight of up to 15 kg. In this way, up to 85 kg of weight can be carried per passenger.

• AC First Class: The most premium and comfortable coach, in which passengers will get special facilities.
• AC Second Tier: Medieval level coach, which will be a great combination of comfort and convenience.  
• AC Three Tier: Economical but equipped with modern facilities coaches.

1128 passengers will be able to travel in the train at a time. Every coach has been designed in such a way that passengers get complete comfort even during long distance travel.

The Railway Minister said that the Railways is already giving an average subsidy of 45 percent to all the passengers. -Train No. 21903, Bandra Terminus-Bikaner AC Superfast Express which will depart from Bandra Terminus from 11th August, till further orders, there is a partial change in operating time at Vapi, Anand and Nadiad stations on its route.

-Train number 11090, Pune-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express which will depart from Pune from August 10, is being partially changed in operating timings at Dahanu Road, Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Nadiad and Ahmedabad stations on its route till further orders.

-Train number 14808, Dadar-Bhagat Ki Kothi Express which will depart Dadar on 13th August, will arrive at Surat station at its scheduled time of 4.16 am and depart at 04.21 am till further orders, instead of its scheduled time of arrival at 04.17 am and departure at 04.22 pm and will reach Bhagat Ki Kothi at its scheduled time.

-Train no. 16534, Bengaluru-Jodhpur Express which will depart from Bengaluru from August 10, will arrive at Vadodara station at the changed time of 3.33 am and depart at 3.43 am instead of its scheduled time of arrival and departure at 3.35 pm and depart at 3.45 pm till further orders, will arrive at Anand station at the changed time of 4.13 pm and depart at 4.15 pm instead of its scheduled time of arrival and departure at 4.15 pm and will reach Jodhpur at its scheduled time.

It is expected that very soon Vande Bharat will run from Jamalpur to Howrah. With the running of this train, there will be five trains from Jamalpur to Howrah. At present, four express trains are running for Howrah.

Actually, the MP cum Union Minister had met the Railway Minister and talked about extending the Bhagalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat to Jamalpur. He had said that its operation will provide convenience to the people of Munger division. The business of the traders here will also increase. Under the pilot project, the railways trialled this train on a distance of 89 km on the Jind-Sonipat rail section of Haryana. The total cost of this project is said to be Rs 111.83 crore. This train, which runs at a speed of 110 km per hour, can be run regularly soon. According to sources, an eight-coach non-AC hydrogen train will run on this route of Northern Railway, which will have hydrogen fuel power cars on both sides. It is being told that ICF is preparing to give the first delivery of this train by August 31.

A boon for the environment

Hydrogen trains are extremely environment friendly. Compared to diesel and electric trains, these trains almost eliminate pollution. These trains neither emit smoke nor harmful gases like carbon dioxide. Based on hydrogen fuel cell technology, these trains generate electricity from the chemical reaction of hydrogen gas and oxygen, which helps in running the train. In this process, only water and steam are emitted as by-products, which does not cause any harm to the environment.

Hydrogen for Heritage Scheme

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had told the Rajya Sabha during the year 2023 that under the Railways’ Hydrogen for Heritage scheme, there is a plan to run 35 hydrogen trains on heritage and hilly routes. It will cost around Rs 80 crore to prepare one train, while Rs 70 crore will be spent on preparing ground infrastructure in plain and hilly areas. Railways has set a budget of Rs 2800 crore for this entire project.

Now Aadhaar OTP verification is necessary for Tatkal ticket

Now whenever a passenger books a Tatkal train ticket, he will have to enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to his Aadhaar card. Unless this OTP is successfully verified, the ticket will not be issued. This rule applies to all Tatkal bookings on the IRCTC website, IRCTC Rail Connect app, PRS counters and registered railway agents.

When and how are Tatkal tickets booked?

Tatkal tickets for AC class (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC) can be booked from 10:00 am a day before the train departure. Tatkal tickets for Non-AC class (SL, 2S) can be booked from 11:00 am a day before the train departure.

Aadhaar OTP is also required for offline booking

Even if you are booking Tatkal ticket through offline PRS counter or any registered railway agent, it is necessary to provide Aadhaar OTP. At the time of booking, you will have to provide your Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

Aadhaar authentication is mandatory in IRCTC user profile

If you want to book Tatkal ticket on IRCTC app or website, then first authenticate your IRCTC profile with Aadhaar. If you do not do this, you will not be able to book Tatkal ticket.

How to do Aadhaar authentication

• Login to IRCTC website or app
• Go to the My Account section
• Click on Authenticate User
• Complete the process by doing OTP verification

There is also a time limit on agent booking

• Railways have also limited the booking time for authorised agents so that common people get tickets first.
• For AC class: Agents will not be able to book tickets between 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
• For Non-AC classes: Agents will not be able to make bookings between 11:00 am and 11:30 am.

Train fares have also increased from July 1

Railways has increased the fares of many special and premium trains from July 1, 2025. This includes trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Duronto, Humsafar. The new fare rates have been fixed according to distance and class.

Reservation chart will now be made 8 hours in advance

Another change made by the railways is that now the reservation chart will be prepared 8 hours before the departure of the train. If the train is leaving before 2 pm, then its chart will be prepared at 9 pm the day before. Earlier this chart was prepared only 4 hours in advance.

Aadhaar is now mandatory to book Tatkal tickets

• Non-AC class tickets: Agents will not be able to book from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

Now the reservation chart will be prepared earlier.

The reservation chart will be prepared 8 hours before the departure of the train. If the train departs before 2 pm, then its chart will be prepared at 9 pm the previous night. Earlier this work was done 4 hours before the departure of the train.

Railway fares have increased

This facility will also be started

Railways is soon going to launch a new and modern Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which will start by December 2025. This project is being handled by the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS). The new PRS system will be able to book more than 1.5 lakh tickets in a minute, which is about five times more than the current 32,000 tickets per minute. Also, the ticket inquiry system will also be upgraded, in which the inquiry capacity will increase from 4 lakh to 40 lakh per minute. This will provide real-time booking information to millions of passengers.

Apart from this, linking of Aadhaar will be mandatory for Tatkal booking from July 1, 2025. To book tickets in the Tatkal quota, passengers will have to provide Aadhaar details at the time of booking. Railways expects that around 7.57 billion passengers will travel in FY 2026, which is more than 7.27 billion in FY 2025.

Railways has also made a big change in the process of booking tickets under the Tatkal scheme. According to the new instructions of the Railways, from July 1, 2025, Tatkal tickets will be issued through IRCTC website or app only to those passengers who have completed Aadhaar-based verification .

Agents are put under control in Tatkal booking

Railways is testing a new rule, under which the reservation chart will be prepared 24 hours before the departure of the train. When this system is implemented, passengers will be able to know a day in advance whether their ticket is confirmed or not.

At present, the railways prepare the reservation chart about four hours before the departure of the train. In such a situation, passengers on the waiting list remain confused till the last moment. Many times, in this confusion, the passengers make other arrangements and the ticket gets confirmed at the last moment. Sometimes the opposite also happens. Tatkal ticket sales account for about 20% of total railway ticket sales. This scheme is specially designed to meet emergencies or last minute travel needs. Under this scheme, passengers have to pay 10–30% premium over the normal fare.

OTP is required even on counter booking

Railways has also clarified that if Tatkal tickets are booked from railway counter or authorised agent, then from July 15, 2025, booking will be done only through OTP sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

This OTP process will be generated from IRCTC’s system and only the mobile number given to the passengers at the time of booking will be valid. This step has been taken to curb suspicious bookings.

Restrictions were also imposed on ticket agents

To increase transparency in booking of Tatkal tickets, the Railways has given a big blow to the authorized agents. Now the agents will not be able to book AC class tickets between 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Whereas, this restriction will be applicable for non-AC tickets from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.

This new rule will ensure that common passengers can come first and make bookings and agents do not get priority.

New security system and digital infrastructure

Railways said that it has partnered with advanced anti-bot systems and Content Delivery Network (CDN) in its digital booking platform to prevent automatic and unethical booking. Under this, 2.5 crore suspicious user accounts have been deactivated so far.

On May 22, 2025, Railways also recorded a record of 31,814 ticket bookings in a minute, indicating the successful implementation of the new technology.

Strictness on new user registration too

Now, users who create new IDs on IRCTC will have to face a three-day cooling-off period for booking tickets in high-demand categories like Tatkal or Premium Tatkal. In contrast, there will be no such restriction for Aadhaar-verified users.

Railway Minister’s response

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav described the new rules as a decision to benefit genuine passengers. He said, “Aadhaar based e-authentication will make the booking process more transparent. Also, more needy people will be more likely to get confirmed tickets.”

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has confirmed that the Railways is going to make the ticket booking system more secure and fair through e-Aadhaar authentication. Now only those users will be able to book Tatkal tickets whose IRCTC accounts are linked to Aadhaar. Aadhaar based OTP verification will also be necessary at the time of booking.

What will change with the new rules?

• Only Aadhaar verified accounts will be allowed to book tatkal tickets.
• Only verified users will get priority for the first 10 minutes of booking.
• IRCTC agents will also not be allowed to book tickets in the first 10 minutes.
• Aadhaar verification can also be made mandatory while purchasing tickets from the counter.

Why was this step necessary?

At present, out of more than 13 crore users of IRCTC, only 1.2 crore are Aadhaar verified. Railways has decided that special monitoring will be done on those accounts which are not linked to Aadhaar. If suspicious activity is found in any account, it will be closed. This change is important in the direction of giving a fair chance to common passengers for Tatkal tickets.

Interesting pattern seen in Tatkal ticket booking

Analysis of the booking data by the Railways from May 24 to June 2 revealed some shocking facts:

AC Category:

An average of only 5,615 tickets were booked in the first minute.

22,827 tickets were booked in the second minute.

Overall, 67,159 AC tickets were sold in the first 10 minutes – 62.5% of total online bookings.

Non-AC Category:

4% of tickets (4,724) were booked in the first minute.

About 66.4% of the tickets were sold in the first 10 minutes.

Even after 8 to 10 hours, about 12% of Tatkal tickets were booked.

This data clearly shows how most tickets are lost within the first few minutes – the time when automated tools are most likely to be misused. Railways are now using artificial intelligence and surveillance systems to curb this.

What action has been taken so far?

Railways has blocked 2.4 crore fake or suspicious IRCTC accounts in the last 6 months. This is a historic initiative to take the country’s largest online ticket booking system in the right direction.

Passengers still lagging behind in the race for confirmed tickets

According to the railways, on an average 2.25 lakh passengers try to book tatkal tickets from IRCTC’s online platform every day. But as soon as the booking opens, the tickets get filled so fast that most passengers get disappointed in the very first minute.

Data from May 24 to June 2 shows that in the first minute of opening of AC class booking, only 5,615 tickets could be booked, while the potential number of tickets was 1.08 lakh. Within ten minutes, more than 67,000 tickets were booked, which is 62.5 percent of the total Tatkal tickets. In the non-AC class too, about 66 percent of the tickets were sold in the first 10 minutes.

This makes it clear that the demand is very high and users already in the system often outnumber the rest. There is also a large number of bot accounts involved in black marketing of Tatkal tickets.

13 crore accounts, only 1.2 crore Aadhaar linked

IRCTC has more than 13 crore active users, but only 1.2 crore of these users are verified by Aadhaar. Railways has now started investigating the remaining accounts. Considering about 20 lakh accounts as suspicious, their Aadhaar and other documents are being checked. Railways says that the accounts found to be fake will be deactivated.

Those who link Aadhaar will get priority in booking

The railways plan is that users who link their IRCTC account with Aadhaar will get priority in the first 10 minutes of opening of Tatkal ticket booking. That is, the system will first identify them and then proceed with the booking process. This will curb those who book tickets through bots and scripts and the system will become more transparent and fair.

The new system will be implemented soon

The aim of the railways is to make ticket booking more secure and transparent through technology. The e-Aadhaar based system will be implemented soon. According to the report, Vande Bharat Express (26401) will depart from Katra Railway Station at 8:10 AM and reach Srinagar Railway Station at 11:20 AM. On the return journey, it will depart from Srinagar at 12:45 PM and reach Katra at 3:55 PM. The train will run six days a week (except Tuesday). The train’s only stoppage will be at Banihal Railway Station (BAHL), where it will arrive at 9:58 AM and after a 2-minute halt, it will depart for Srinagar. The route is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which includes the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge.

Rental and booking

According to IRCTC, there are two classes available in Vande Bharat Express. Chair Car (CC) and Executive Chair Car (EC). The fare for Chair Car is around ₹555 and the fare for Executive Class is around ₹1070. Thus, the fare for Chair Car will be just Rs 3 per km. However, the final fare may be ₹1500-1600 for Chair Car and ₹2200-2500 for Executive Class, which will be confirmed at the time of booking. Ticket booking can be done through IRCTC website or app. In the booking process, passengers will have to enter the passenger details by selecting the date and class of travel from Katra (SVDK) to Srinagar (SINA). Tickets can be booked up to 120 days in advance.

This Vande Bharat Express has been specially designed for the harsh winters of Kashmir. It has been fitted with silicon heating pads (1800 watts) and self-regulating heating cables to prevent freezing of water tanks and pipelines. The train has a capacity of 530 passengers, including one executive class and seven luxury chair car coaches. The train can run at a maximum speed of 160 kmph, which significantly reduces the travel time compared to road (8-10 hours).

If you are travelling in First Class AC coach, you can carry up to 70 kg of luggage with you. Apart from this, you are also allowed to carry 15 kg extra luggage without any extra charge.

This is the limit in second AC

Passengers traveling in second AC can carry luggage up to 50 kg. In this too, you get an additional discount of 10 kg. That means you can carry luggage up to 60 kg in total without any penalty.

If a passenger travels in a train with more luggage than the prescribed limit and has not paid the booking charges in advance, he has to pay a penalty. According to the rules of the Railways, a penalty of 6 times the booking charge for the extra luggage will be levied.

If you login to the IRCTC website or app at the right time, then the chances of getting a confirmed ticket in Tatkal can increase.

If there is a delay in logging in on the IRCTC site, then it becomes difficult to get a confirmed ticket. Tatkal tickets are booked in trains in just 5-7 minutes. Due to this reason, most passengers are not able to get a confirmed ticket and they get a waiting ticket. Today we will tell you at what time you should login to the IRCTC app or site.

Correct timing is important

Tatkal ticket booking in AC coach of train starts at 10 am. In such a situation, one should login on IRCTC website and app at 9.55 am. Whereas, for sleeper class, login at 10.55 am. Now this question will arise in your mind that what is the harm if we login before this i.e. at 9:45 or 10:45. Many people do this too. The disadvantage of logging in much before the booking opens is that the login time expires due to no transaction happening on the website or app for 15 minutes.

When the login expires, you have to login again. Suppose you logged in at 9:45 and your login expires at the last moment i.e. at 10 o’clock, then by the time you login again, it is possible that all the tickets will be booked. Secondly, at 10 o’clock, due to heavy traffic on the IRCTC website, the load increases and it is not easy to login after that. Therefore, you should login only by 9:55 or 10:55. Not much earlier. In this game of timing of Tatkal ticket booking, a small mistake can prove to be costly and due to late login, you get a waiting ticket.

Around 15 trains run on this route, but tickets are not available easily during the festive season. The distance between the two cities is more than 700 km. With the new Vande Bharat, this distance will be covered in less time. The new Vande Bharat will have eight chair car coaches, in which 564 passengers will be able to travel. It has not been officially announced yet when this Vande Bharat will run between the two cities, but the train can be started soon.

Inauguration of Katra to Kashmir rail link postponed

At the same time, the inauguration program of Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Project (USBRL) in Jammu and Kashmir has been postponed due to bad weather. Vande Bharat train will also run on this route. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate the world’s tallest Chenab Rail Bridge and Anji Khad Rail Bridge on April 19 and flag off the special Kashmir edition of Vande Bharat Express from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar.

This train will be run in these three rounds.

2. Rules for turning off the lights

3. Loud music is prohibited

5. Ordering food at night

It is prohibited to order food through e-catering service in the train after 10 pm. However, if you are planning your journey at night, you can pre-order. That is, you can order food or snacks online in advance, which you will get in the train at the scheduled time. This arrangement has been made keeping in mind the convenience of passengers traveling in the train at night.

6. Use of online services

If you are travelling in a train at night, you must keep in mind that some online services like pre-ordering food are available. However, new orders are not allowed after 10 pm. So, if you are travelling at night, ensure your food requirement in advance.

If your ticket is in waiting, it means that the seat has not been confirmed for you yet and it is uncertain whether you can get a seat during the journey or not. But many times people travel in the reserved coach of the train by taking a waiting ticket, which will now be considered a serious violation.

Punishment for travelling with waiting ticket

Now if you board a reserved coach of a train with a waiting ticket, you will have to pay a fine. Waiting ticket does not mean that you have the right to sit in a reserved coach. Indian Railways has decided to strictly enforce this rule and if you travel with a waiting ticket, you will be fined.

Penalty for travelling with waiting ticket in sleeper coach

If you board a sleeper coach with a waiting ticket, you will have to pay a fine of Rs 250. Apart from this, you will also have to pay the full fare from the place where you started your journey to the place where you were caught by the TTE checking the ticket. If you want to continue your journey, you will also have to pay additional fare according to the further distance.

Penalty for travelling with waiting ticket in AC coach

If you try to travel in an AC coach with a waiting ticket, you will have to pay a fine of Rs 440. Along with this, you will also have to pay the fare of the journey you have decided. The amount of fare may change according to the distance of the journey, that is, the longer the journey, the higher the fare will be.

Refund and cancellation of waiting tickets

If your ticket goes into waiting list while booking tickets online, it gets cancelled automatically and you get a refund. However, this is not the case with waiting tickets booked from the counter. Waiting tickets booked from the counter are not cancelled and passengers may have to face a penalty for this.

Why is this rule necessary?

The main purpose behind this rule is to prevent chaos in the reserved coaches of the railways. When a passenger travels in a reserved coach with a waiting ticket, it causes inconvenience to other passengers with confirmed reservations and also creates problems in proper arrangement of seats in the train. Apart from this, the railways also suffer losses as there are no seats for unreserved passengers.

Railway officials say that this rule has been implemented keeping in mind the safety and convenience of passengers. Railways also get additional income from the fines levied on traveling with waiting tickets, which they can spend on improving passenger facilities and the railway network.

Its aim is to increase the passenger capacity in the train and provide comfortable service. After the launch of the new Vande Bharat train service, passengers will be able to travel from Mumbai to Mangaluru in 12 hours.

Currently, two short-distance Vande Bharat trains run on the Mumbai-Mangaluru route. One is Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat and the other is Mangaluru-Goa Vande Bharat train.

According to media reports, initially 90 percent seats were filled in Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train, but now only 70 percent seats are full. Similarly, on an average 70 percent seats are filled in Mangaluru-Goa Vande Bharat. Railways believes that starting a direct Vande Bharat train service by combining these routes will help in achieving full passenger capacity, as trains running between Mumbai and Mangaluru as well as trains running to Kerala always maintain 100 percent passenger capacity.

Mumbai-Goa Vande train extended to Mangaluru

As per the new proposed schedule, the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat, which currently leaves Mumbai at 5:25 am and reaches Goa at 1:10 pm, will now go up to Mangaluru and arrive at 6:00 pm. Similarly, the Mangaluru-Goa Vande Bharat service, which leaves Mangaluru at 8:30 am and reaches Goa at 1:10 pm, will now be extended up to Mumbai and will reach the final destination at 9:00 pm.

Hints of change in timetable

However, many long-distance trains arrive at Mumbai station around 9:00 pm, so managing the rush of passengers can be a challenge. Central Railway has indicated that the timetable of Mumbai-Mangaluru Vande Bharat may be changed to ensure smooth operations.

You just have to meet the railway officials in advance to make this process hassle-free.

To transfer a ticket, you have to submit a transfer request at least 24 hours before the train departure time. If there are less than 24 hours left for the departure time and you are submitting a transfer request, it will not be accepted.

First of all, for change of name on confirmed reservation ticket, you should go to the reservation counter of your nearest railway station with a printout of the electronic reservation slip and the photo identity proof mentioned in the electronic reservation slip. At this time, you should also have a valid ID proof of the relative who is travelling in your place. Provide proof of relationship with that relative at the counter. Submit a written application for ticket transfer, railway staff will help you in this.

There is provision for such passengers as well

Apart from relatives, ticket transfer can be done in some other categories as well. In this, if the passenger is a government employee and is on duty and there is appropriate authority, then the ticket can be transferred. If the passenger is a student of a recognized educational institution and the head of the institution requests in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of any student can be transferred to another student of the same institution.

After 10 pm, all the lights in the train must be switched off except the night light. If you switch on the light, it can disturb the sleep of fellow passengers.

You cannot talk to anyone on the phone in a loud voice after 10 pm in the train. Apart from this, even if you are traveling in a group, you cannot talk to each other in a loud voice.

If a passenger sitting in the middle berth opens his seat after 10 pm, then the passenger sitting in the lower berth cannot object to it. You must be aware of these rules while travelling in a train at night.

According to the Railway Minister, preparations are being made to provide lower berth facility to women, senior citizens and disabled passengers on priority basis.

It is not possible for everyone to get a seat

The Railway Minister also said that the lower berths in the train are limited and hence it is difficult to provide these berths to everyone. But the Railways is trying to ensure that every effort will be made to provide these berths to the passengers who need them the most. The first priority of the Railways is women, senior citizens and Divyangs.

Reserved lower berths in trains

There is a fixed number of lower seats in every coach of railway train. There are 6 to 7 lower seats in sleeper coach. There are 4 to 5 lower berths in every coach of third AC. Whereas there are 3 to 4 lower seats in every coach of 2 AC. In such a situation, Indian Railways always gives priority to Divyang passengers so that they do not face any problem in going to the seat. 2 lower berths are reserved for them in sleeper coach. 4 lower berths in third AC and third economy, 4 seats in second seating or chair car are reserved for these people.

At the same time, if the lower berth remains vacant during the journey, then on priority basis it is given to senior citizens, disabled and pregnant women, who are on the middle or upper berths.

This super app of Indian Railways will eliminate the need for users to have different apps for different services. Railway passengers will be able to avail all these facilities through this one app on their smartphones. Users doing beta testing are currently testing all the services available on this app. After testing, they will share the feedback of this app. After this, this app will be officially launched for all users.

Under this change, the train will not stop at Kanpur Central station.

The route of 12595 Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal Express running from Gorakhpur on 20, 24, 25, 27, 31 March and 01, 03, 07, 08, 10, 14, 15, 17, 21, 22, 24, 28, 29 April 2025 will be run via Lucknow-Alamnagar-Moradabad-Ghaziabad instead of Lucknow-Kanpur Central-Ghaziabad. Under this change, the train will not stop at Kanpur Central station.

Route changed from Anand Vihar Terminal

The route of 22412 Anand Vihar Terminal-Naharlagun Express running from Anand Vihar Terminal on 20, 23, 27, 30 March and 03, 06, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27 April 2025 will be run via Ghaziabad-Moradabad-Lucknow instead of Ghaziabad-Kanpur Central-Lucknow. Under this change, the train will not stop at Kanpur Central station.

The route of 12003 Lucknow Junction-New Delhi Express running from Lucknow Junction from 20 March to 30 April 2025 will be run via Lucknow Junction-Moradabad-Ghaziabad instead of Lucknow Junction-Kanpur Central-Ghaziabad. Under this change, the train will not stop at Kanpur Central, Phaphund, Etawah, Tundla and Aligarh stations.

The route of 15025 Mau-Anand Vihar Terminal Express running from Mau on 23, 25, 30 March and 01, 06, 08, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 April 2025 will be run via Lucknow-Moradabad-Ghaziabad instead of Lucknow-Kanpur Central-Ghaziabad. Under this change, the train will not stop at Kanpur Central and Aligarh stations.

The route of 15026 Anand Vihar Terminal-Mau Express running from Anand Vihar Terminal on 21, 24, 28, 31 March and 04, 07, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28 April 2025 will be run via Ghaziabad-Moradabad-Lucknow instead of Ghaziabad-Kanpur Central-Lucknow. Under this change, the train will not stop at Aligarh and Kanpur Central stations.

This train will run via DDU and Prayagraj. This train will not run only on Tuesdays of the week. This train will leave for New Delhi at 08.30 am from Patna and will reach New Delhi station at 20.10 pm on the same day. This train will run till 21 March.

Clone special train will be run from Rajendra Nagar Terminal

Apart from this, the railways will run a clone special train from Rajendra Nagar Terminal to New Delhi. This train will run till March 31. It will not run only on Thursdays in a week. This train will run six days a week.

This train will leave Rajendra Nagar at 19.45 and will reach New Delhi at 12.10 the next day. It has been decided to run a special train from Danapur to Anand Vihar as well. This train will run via DDU and Prayagraj.

Special train from Danapur to Anand Vihar will be operated on 16, 23 and 30 March. This train will leave from Danapur at 07.30 am and will reach Anand Vihar at 12.30 am.

Superfast festival special train will run from Patna to Delhi

Superfast Festival Special train will be run from Patna to Delhi till March 18. This train will leave from Patna at 17.50, which will reach Delhi at 10.25 the next day.

These trains are expected to provide a lot of convenience to the passengers of the state. Railway officials say that the operation of Holi special trains will provide relief to the passengers going to Delhi from the state. They can return with their families after Holi.

Special train will run between Gaya-Anand Vihar

On the other hand, in Rohtas too, the work of returning people has started as soon as the Holi festival is over. The railways is running special trains so that the passengers do not have to face much trouble on their return.

The operation of special trains has also started from Sunday. Train number 02397 Gaya-Anand Vihar Special via DDU-Prayagraj will depart from Gaya at 14.15 on 16, 23 and 30 March and reach Anand Vihar at 07.10 the next day.

This train will go to Anand Vihar via Anugrahan Narayan Road, Dehri Onson, Sasaram. Similarly, train number 03697 Gaya-Anand Vihar Super Fast Special via Sasaram-DDU-Prayagraj will leave Gaya at 14.15 every Sunday till 31 March 2025 and reach Anand Vihar at 07.10 the next day.

While train number 04063 Gaya-New Delhi Superfast Festival Special via DDU-Prayagraj will depart from Gaya on 18 March at 06.40 am and reach New Delhi at 23.35 pm on the same day. This train will also stop at major railway stations of Rohtas, Kaimur and Aurangabad districts.

According to ET Now’s report, this Vande Bharat is ready to run on the tracks again from March 7 (Friday). Currently, two Vande Bharat trains are running between Delhi and Katra. These include 22439/22440 New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express and 22477/22478 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express.

Vande Bharat will stop at these stations

To make the journey of this train even more comfortable, stoppage has been given at four major stations. This Vande Bharat will stop at stations like Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana Junction, Pathankot Cantt and Jammu Tawi. For the convenience of passengers, the train has AC chair car and executive chair car. Vande Bharat Express running from New Delhi will leave at 6:00 am and reach Katra at 2:15 pm. On return, this train will leave from Katra at 2:55 pm and reach Delhi at 11:00 pm.

What will be the fare of Vande Bharat

Talking about the ticket fare, the fare for AC chair car from New Delhi to Katra has been fixed at Rs 1665, while for the executive chair car, passengers will have to spend Rs 3055. After changing from diesel to electric engines, the Indian Railways is going to adopt another new technology. The Railway Ministry is preparing to introduce hydrogen-powered trains in India soon. The country’s first hydrogen train is being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.

A big step towards green transportation

The country’s first hydrogen train will be a big step towards green transportation. This will help in achieving the target of zero carbon emission. The Railway Ministry has allocated Rs 2800 crore in the financial year 2023-24, through which 35 hydrogen fuel cell trains will be developed. Running these trains will reduce pollution and passengers will get a lot of convenience. The work of preparing this train is almost complete. It is likely to be ready by March 2025.

The hydrogen train made in India has double capacity.

Earlier in January, ICF’s General Manager (GM) U Subbarao had said that the hydrogen fuel cell train set is being manufactured rapidly. It can be prepared by March 25. The hydrogen train made in other countries of the world has a capacity of 500 to 600 horsepower (HP). But India has achieved a new feat in this and the engine of the hydrogen train to be made in the country will be of 1,200 HP. This is the hydrogen train engine with the highest capacity in the world.

Where will the first hydrogen train run?

India’s first hydrogen train has been allotted to the Delhi division of Northern Railway. This train will run on the 89 km long Jind-Sonipat rail route. Running a hydrogen train within the country will be beneficial in many ways. First of all, such a train will be beneficial for the environment. There will be no carbon emission from this train and pollution will be reduced.

Secondly, hydrogen is a clean and recycled power source, which can make this train more economical than diesel and electric trains in the long run. Apart from this, Indian Railways is moving towards sustainable transportation, which will make the railways more environmentally friendly in the coming time.

Indian Railways has decided to run special trains on the occasion of Holi. These trains will run between Danapur to Jabalpur and Patna to Jalna. Apart from this, it has been decided to run trains between Ranikamalapati and Kota, Gaya to Anand Vihar.

The special train running between Jalna and Patna will run via DDU, Prayagraj, Katni, Itarsi, Akola. This Holi special train will depart from Jalna on 6th, 10th and 15th March.

On the return journey, this train will run on 8th, 12th and 17th March. The train running between Jabalpur and Danapur will run via DDU, Prayagraj, Chheoki and Katni. This train will run from Jabalpur on 11th March and from Danapur on 12th March.

Due to non-interlocking work in Deoria, the route of many trains was changed

In order to expand the infrastructure by the Railways, non-interlock work is being done between Baitalpur-Deoria Sadar station on Gorakhpur Cantt-Bhatni railway section of Varanasi division.

Due to this, the route of some trains has been changed. The Katihar-Amritsar Express which will depart from Katihar on March 6 will be run via the changed route Siwan-Thaw-Kaptanganj-Gorakhpur Cantt instead of the scheduled route Siwan-Bhatni-Gorakhpur Cantt.

Due to the change in route, it will not stop at Deoria Sadar station. The New Delhi-Saharsa Express leaving from New Delhi on March 5 will run via the changed route Gorakhpur Cantt-Kaptanganj-Thaw-Siwan instead of the scheduled route Gorakhpur Cantt-Bhatni-Siwan.

As a result of the route change, this train will not stop at Deoria Sadar station. The Amritsar-Saharsa Express leaving from Amritsar on March 5 will run via the changed route Gorakhpur Cantt-Kaptanganj-Thaw-Siwan instead of the scheduled route Gorakhpur Cantt-Bhatni-Siwan.

As a result of our continuous efforts, the Union Railway Minister has taken note of the issue and responded positively. The trial and test run was done by the Lucknow-based Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). Now this Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has reached Chennai and is handed over to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF).

A senior railway official has confirmed this. Talking to ET Now, the officer said, ‘The first rake of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has reached ICF Chennai. Here it is being given the final touches.’ It is known that the trial run of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train was done in January. The first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train set with 16 coaches is now awaiting approval from Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) to be filled. Along with this, it also has to get approval related to railway safety. The train successfully completed the long distance trial on January 15.

Successful trial up to a distance of 540 km

The board said in its statement, ‘RDSO will issue the final certificate after analyzing the test before the operation of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train. The Railway Safety Commissioner will evaluate the train at its maximum speed.’ According to the board, the dream of a world-class high-speed sleeper train has now become a reality, as the first 16-coach Vande Bharat sleeper train set successfully trialed a distance of 540 km in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad section. Chennai-based ICF completed the manufacture of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train set on 17 December 2024.

Indian Railways has changed the rules of entry and exit in the station after the accident. Railways has taken this decision to facilitate the passengers to reach the platform from outside the station in a convenient manner, which has been implemented immediately.

According to Indian Railways, currently most of the crowd in the station is of people going to Maha Kumbh. These passengers enter the station from both Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate. The accident happened a day before just after the announcement of the train going to Prayagraj. Therefore, Indian Railways has taken a decision on entry and exit in the station with immediate effect.

The platform will be fixed for the special train

According to Indian Railways, keeping in mind the crowd going to Maha Kumbh, all the special trains to Prayagraj will be run only from platform number 16. This station has been completely dedicated. Earlier, special trains were run from the platform which was vacant. Due to this, passengers used to go to different platforms.

Change the rules of entry and exit

Along with this, entry and exit has been fixed for this. Passengers who have to catch the train from platform 16 will have to use the Ajmeri Gate side only. That is, passengers going by Prayagraj special trains will not be given entry from Paharganj. If you go to Paharganj by mistake, then you will have to come back towards Paharganj.

Entry for those with confirmed tickets

Passengers who have confirmed tickets for other trains to go to Prayagraj can enter from both sides, i.e. Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate.

Sangam station will remain closed till 26th

At the same time, Indian Railways has now decided to close Sangam station till 26 February. Railways had earlier decided to keep the station closed till 14th and then till 16th February. But now the date has been extended.

Vande Bharat Updates: There is good news for the passengers traveling by Vande Bharat. The Railway Board said that if the passengers of Vande Bharat train do not choose any option of food during ticket booking, then they can also buy it in the train. In a circular issued to the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Friday, the Railway Board said, “In order to provide options and adequate catering facilities to the passengers who have ‘current booking’ (after the chart is prepared and before the train departs) and do not choose (food) option in Vande Bharat trains, the sale and service of food items in these trains can be restored by IRCTC again.

The circular said, “For passengers with current booking and those who have not opted for (meal), the option of cooked food (if available) may be restored, which will be in addition to the ‘Ready to Eat’ food option.” Railway officials said that a large number of passengers often complained that IRCTC employees do not provide them food even if they want to pay. The reason given for this was that they had not opted for this option during ticket booking.

A railway official said, “It often happens that you do not opt ​​for ‘prepaid’ meals at the time of booking, but during the journey such circumstances arise that you want to buy food. In these cases, IRCTC staff refuse to give it to such passengers even after they pay.”

He said, “Now as a policy we have decided that even those passengers who have not opted for ‘prepaid’ food can buy quality food in the train.” In the board’s circular, IRCTC has been requested to take all necessary steps to provide good quality and hygienic food to the passengers in the train.

The long distance trial was successful on 15 January

In the information given by the Railway Board, it was told that the train had successfully completed the long distance trial on January 15. The board said in a statement, ‘Before India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train runs on the commercial route, RDSO will issue the final certificate after analyzing the trial.’ It said, ‘The Railway Safety Commissioner will evaluate the train at its maximum speed.’ According to the board, the dream of a world-level high-speed sleeper train has now become a reality, as the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train set with 16 coaches successfully completed the trial by RDSO for a distance of 540 km in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad section on January 15.

Comfortable travel at high speed of 180 kmph

The statement said that ‘Integral Coach Factory (Chennai) completed the manufacture of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train set on 17 December 2024. According to the Railway Board, the train was brought to Kota Division within a fortnight and was successfully trialled for short distances of 30 to 40 km for three consecutive days in the first week of last month. During this, the train provided a comfortable travel experience at a high speed of 180 kmph. The board said that long distance trials have also been successful. This is an important step for the Indian Railways, which is moving towards the introduction of high-speed trains in the country.

It is clear from this success of the railways that the Indian Railways is fully prepared to operate high-speed trains and soon the passengers will start experiencing fast and comfortable travel. Railways has made another important announcement. After the successful testing of the prototype, now the production of nine more Vande Bharat sleeper train sets is going to start. This production will take place between April 2025 and December 2025. This step will further strengthen India’s self-reliance in railway technology. After the success of Vande Bharat trains, the production of sleeper trains will be another major achievement for the Indian Railways.

The App allows users to onboard using their existing RailConnect or UTS on Mobile credentials. Once registered, the same credentials apply across these platforms. The single-sign-on feature reduces the need to remember multiple passwords.

On first login, an R-Wallet is created for every user to facilitate ticket bookings. Existing R-Wallets from the UTS on Mobile App are automatically linked. On the return journey, this train will depart from Ahmedabad at 5:45 pm and reach Udaipur at 10 pm. The train journey in Ahmedabad will start and end from Asarwa railway station.

The express will have eight AC chair car coaches.

Designed for a comfortable journey, the Vande Bharat Express will have eight AC chair car coaches. Passengers traveling in the train will get a premium experience. The travel time between Ahmedabad and Udaipur will be around four hours. Currently, it takes five hours to reach Ahmedabad from Udaipur by road. After the start of the train, passengers from the Mewar region will especially benefit, as the train can reach Ahmedabad airport.

Tourism and travel professionals in Udaipur are very excited

about the new Vande Bharat Express. After the start of the train, tourism and pilgrimage related work is expected to get a boost in the area. Temples like Shrinathji and Eklingji are expected to see a large number of people visiting them. This train will run on January 27 via Narkatiaganj-Sikta-Raxaul-Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur, whereas its scheduled route was Narkatiaganj-Bapudham Motihari-Muzaffarpur.

15706 Delhi – Katihar Express

Officials gave this information. About a week ago, the CRS had conducted a two-day inspection of the Katra-Riyasi section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project, after which this approval has now been given.

CRS gave permission to run the train

Based on its detailed inspection on January 7 and 8, the CRS has given permission to run goods and passenger trains in a seven-page letter to the concerned ministry and railway officials, including the Chief Railway Safety Commissioner, indicating the completion of the much-awaited ambitious project.

Work started in 1997

Work on the project to connect Kashmir by rail started in 1997 and due to geographical and climatic challenges, the work could not be completed on time many times.

272 kilometer long rail line project

Under the USBRL project, work on 209 km of the total 272 km rail line was started in multiple phases, with the 118-km Qazigund-Baramulla section starting in October 2009 under the first phase, followed by the 18-km Banihal-Qazigund route in June 2013, the 25-km Udhampur-Katra route in July 2014 and the 48.1-km Banihal-Sangaldan section in February last year.

Work completed in December 2024

The work on the 46 km long section between Sangaldan-Riyasi was also completed in June last year, but a total of 17 km between Reasi and Katra was left and this section was also completed in December 2024.

The train will run at a speed of 85 kilometers per hour

Trains have been allowed to run at a speed of 85 kmph on the main line and 15 kmph on the ‘turnout’ (when the train changes from one line to another). However, along with the approval, compliance with various conditions and guidelines has also been asked.

History made by climbing 180 degrees

On reaching Banihal after the successful speed test, Deswal told reporters that a new chapter has been added in the history of railways with the test at a speed of 110 kmph on a 180 degree climb in challenging geographical conditions from Katra to Banihal. Last month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had announced the completion of the Reasi-Katra section.

Out of the two, the Railways has canceled the services of only train number 22439/22440 New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express. The New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express train covers a distance of 655 km in 8 hours and 5 minutes.

On which day does the train run?

This train runs on all days of the week except Wednesday. This train departs from New Delhi at 6 am and reaches Katra at 2.05 pm. On its return journey, the train departs from Katra at 2.55 pm and reaches the national capital at 11 pm.

Where are the train stops?

During its journey, the train stops at four stations en route. These include Ambala Cantonment, Ludhiana Junction, Pathankot Cantonment and Jammu Tawi. The train has two types of seats – AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. To travel in AC Chair Car between New Delhi and Katra, the passenger has to pay Rs 1665, while the ticket for Executive Chair Car costs Rs 3055.
