4. Southern Railway will run trains on South Indian routes like Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, completing a total of 66 trips.

Relief from other zones as well

East Coast Railway will run trains on Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur routes. South Eastern Railway will provide services on Ranchi and Tatanagar routes. North Central Railway will run special trains from Prayagraj and Kanpur. Apart from this, special trains will be arranged on major routes like Bilaspur, Raipur, Bhopal and Kota in view of the rush of passengers. Railways says that this is only the first phase and more trains will be added in future.

Due to this, Jaisalmer-Kathgodam Ranikhet Express will run via the diverted route of Merta Road instead of Marwar Junction in the next five days.

Due to track renewal work on the Luni-Marwar railway section of the division , Jaisalmer-Kathgodam Ranikhet Express will run on the diverted route of Merta Road on 16, 19, 21, 23 and 26 June. While running from Jaisalmer, it will bediverted.

Keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, Indian Railways has made significant changes in its ticket upgradation scheme. Under the new scheme, sleeper class tickets can now be upgraded to Second AC (2AC) free of cost, which was earlier limited to only one class higher (Sleeper to Third AC). The scheme will be extended to 300 passenger trains of Bhopal division, under which over 7,000 reserved tickets are planned to be upgraded. This step will provide a more comfortable and luxurious travel experience to passengers at no extra cost, especially on long distance journeys.

Details of the new upgrade scheme

Indian Railways has further expanded the auto upgrade scheme launched in 2006. Under this scheme, sleeper class passengers were upgraded to Third AC (3AC) and 3AC passengers to Second AC (2AC), provided seats were available in the higher class. Under the new scheme, sleeper class passengers will now be able to directly upgrade to Second AC if seats are available. This process is fully automated and is implemented by the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) while generating the chart. Passengers will have to select the option “Consider for Auto Upgrade” at the time of ticket booking. If a passenger does not select this option, it will be considered as “Yes” by default.

Impact on Bhopal Division

The Bhopal Division, an important part of West Central Railway, will benefit the most from this new scheme. Around 7,000 reserved tickets are expected to be upgraded daily in the division’s 300 passenger trains, including mail/express and superfast trains. The scheme will be particularly effective on routes where there is a high demand for sleeper class but seats remain vacant in AC coaches. For example, trains connecting Bhopal with Delhi, Mumbai and other major cities will provide better facilities to passengers, such as air-conditioned coaches, better bedding, and more privacy.

Terms and Conditions of the Scheme

Some of the key terms of the new upgradation scheme are as follows:

Eligibility: This facility is available only to full-fare passengers. Passengers with concessionary tickets (senior citizens, railway passes, or other concessions) will not be eligible for an upgrade.

Automated Process: Upgradation is done automatically by PRS while generating the chart. TTE or Train Conductor has no authority to upgrade.

Seat Availability: Upgradation will take place only if there are at least six vacant seats in the higher class (3AC or 2AC). If all passengers cannot be upgraded, no one will be upgraded.

Cancellation Cases: If the upgraded ticket is cancelled, only the original class (sleeper) cancellation charges will apply.

Coordination with VIKALP Scheme: This scheme will also work with VIKALP Scheme, where passengers included in the waitlist can be given confirmed seats in alternative trains.

Benefits for Passengers

This new scheme will provide several benefits to passengers. By travelling in Second AC on Sleeper Class fare, passengers will get better facilities, such as air-conditioned coaches, clean toilets and bedding facilities, free of cost. This is especially beneficial for those passengers who travel long distances and are bothered by the crowding in Sleeper Class. Apart from this, the Railways will also reduce its revenue loss by using vacant seats.

Train number 02270/02269 will run six days a week except Tuesday. The running of this train will provide great convenience to the passengers of this segment. Giving this information, Northern Railway has said that a notification has also been issued in this regard.

Till what date will it run?

According to Northern Railways, train number 02270 will run from Lucknow from 27 March 2025 to 26 April 2025. This train will not be available on Tuesday. During this period, this train will make a total of 27 trips. Similarly, train number 022269 will run from Chhapra from 27 March 2025 to 26 April 2025. This train will also make a total of 27 trips. This special Vande Bharat Express train will stop at Sultanpur Junction, Varanasi Junction, Ghazipur City and Suremanpur stations between Lucknow and Chhapra.

Train timings

This new special Vande Bharat train will have chair car and executive chair car. The time-table of the new Vande Bharat Express special train between the two cities has also been released. According to Northern Railway, this train will leave Lucknow Junction at 14:15 and reach Chhapra Junction at 21:30. Similarly, it will leave Chhapra Junction at 23:00 and reach Lucknow at 6:30.

How much is the rent

According to the official website of IRCTC, the fare of this train from Lucknow to Chhapra in chair car is Rs 1780, while the fare in executive class is Rs 3125.

You can buy food in Vande Bharat train

The Railway Board has recently said that if the passengers of Vande Bharat train do not choose any option of food during ticket booking, then they can also buy it in the train. The circular issued said that in order to provide options and adequate catering facilities to the passengers with current booking (after chart preparation and before departure of the train) and those who do not choose the option of food in Vande Bharat train, the sale and service of food items can be restored again by IRCTC in these trains.

Rail traffic will be affected due to the commissioning work of automatic signaling system between Basti-Govindnagar stations of Gorakhpur-Gonda railway section. The railway administration has decided to cancel many trains and change the route of 17 trains on 29 and 30 March.

These trains will remain cancelled.

Railways have decided to completely cancel Gorakhpur-Lucknow Intercity Express and Bhatni-Ayodhya MEMU on 29 and 30 March. Passengers travelling on these days will have to make alternative arrangements. However, the railway administration has also released a schedule for the convenience of passengers.

Route change of 17 trains

According to Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh, Amritsar-Jaynagar Express and Jammu Tawi-Barauni Express will be operated via Gonda-Badhni-Gorakhpur route. Passengers have been advised to check the new schedule of their train so that there is no problem in traveling.

Apart from this, it has been decided to run Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, Sapt Kranti Express, Darbhanga-New Delhi Special Train, Barauni-New Delhi Special Train via Gorakhpur-Badhni-Gonda route instead of Gorakhpur-Basti-Gonda route.

Railways is soon going to start two new Vande Bharat Express trains from Bikaner and Jaipur. These trains will run between Bikaner to Delhi and Jaipur to Jodhpur, which will give passengers a chance to travel in Vande Bharat. Especially Bikaner will be connected to Delhi by direct Vande Bharat service for the first time, which will reduce the travel time to just 6 hours 20 minutes. The Railway Board has also released a temporary timetable for this train.

Vande Bharat trains will run on these routes of Rajasthan

According to a report, the Bikaner-Delhi Vande Bharat Express will leave Bikaner at 5:55 am and reach Delhi at 12:15 pm. On return, it will leave Delhi at 4:30 pm and reach Bikaner at 10:50 pm. This train will travel via Churu-Ratangarh-Loharu.

This new train will reduce the travel time by 90 minutes. According to North Western Railway officials, the aim of the Vande Bharat Express is to provide such convenience to the passengers that they can travel and return in a single day.

What is the plan of Vande Bharat between Jaipur and Jodhpur

Similarly, plans are being made to run Vande Bharat trains between Jaipur and Jodhpur. However, the railway administration is still deciding whether this train will pass through Jaipur via Jodhpur-New Delhi or will go directly from Jaipur to Jodhpur. This plan is in its final stage and may be announced soon. Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, said that both these trains will run on the tracks soon after getting the approval of the Railway Ministry. Currently, Vande Bharat trains are running on Jaipur-Udaipur, Ajmer-Delhi, Bhagat Ki Kothi-Sabarmati and Udaipur-Agra Cantt routes.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Lok Sabha that it is mandatory to display the menu and rates of food in trains, passengers should have access to menu cards, rate lists and digital alerts giving details of food prices. He said that the menu and rates of all food items are available on the IRCTC website for the information of passengers traveling in the train. Along with this, all these details are made available to the waiters present in the train and are given to the passengers on demand.

Passengers also get convenience from SMS alerts

Ashwini Vaishnav said that apart from displaying the rate list in pantry cars, passengers now also get SMS alerts with links to menus and tariffs for better transparency. The Railway Minister said that these SMS have been started to make passengers aware about the menu and rates of food services in Indian Railways.

Special monitoring of pantry cars

The Railway Minister shared this information in response to a question about the rate list of food items available in trains and the steps taken to improve hygiene, cleanliness and quality of food. He said that CCTV cameras have been installed in pantry cars for better monitoring during preparation of food. Apart from this, modern facilities have been installed in base kitchens. Railway has made it mandatory to use branded raw materials like cooking oil, flour, rice, pulses, masala, paneer and dairy products to ensure food safety.

Stating that the government has a special focus on food served in trains, the Railway Minister further said that to maintain hygiene, food safety supervisors have also been deployed in base kitchens to monitor cleanliness and handling and these on-board supervisors oversee food services in trains. Apart from this, passengers can confirm everything from the name of the kitchen to the date of packaging through the QR code on the food packets served in trains.

According to ET report, a senior official said, “There is a need to regulate the entry of people at stations and only those who have valid tickets should be allowed. This option is being considered especially in relation to some busy stations.

Preparations to implement airport-like system

In fact, a similar method is adopted at airports as well, where passengers’ tickets are checked several times before boarding the plane, and people without valid tickets are not allowed entry inside. Regarding this, officials said that permanent holding areas are being designed for New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Ayodhya stations and unauthorized access points will be closed at these stations.

The holding area will be integrated with the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana which aims to improve and modernize railway stations across the Indian Railways network. The Amrit Bharat Station Yojana currently aims to advance and modernize a total of 1275 stations.

This step of the railways can prove to be very helpful in reducing the crowd at the stations. Last week, 18 passengers died in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. Thousands of passengers present at the station were standing to board trains going to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh and suddenly there was a stampede to catch the train.

Validity of general ticket?

Many people may not know this rule of the railways that the general ticket issued by the railways comes with validity. If the journey is not started within 3 hours after taking the general ticket, then that ticket becomes non-valid. In such a case, the passenger cannot travel on that ticket.

The train running from Balamau to Sitapur will remain cancelled

The passenger train (54321/54322) running between Balamau-Sitapur will remain cancelled till February 28. The passenger train (54335/54336) running between Balamau and Kanpur Central will remain cancelled till February 28. The passenger train (64567/64568) running between Bulandshahr and Tughlakabad will remain cancelled till February 23.

Two trains left for Maha Kumbh

Special train: To clear the extra crowd of Maha Kumbh, 2 more special trains have been run. Special train (04052) has been run from New Delhi to Phaphamau and Patna via Moradabad. This train will leave from New Delhi at 6:30 pm and will go to Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Phaphamau Lohta, Varanasi, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay station. (04054) left from Anand Vihar Terminal for Phaphamau. This reserved train will leave from Anand Vihar at 9:30 pm and will run to Phaphamau via Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Rae Bareli.

Know these 5 rules before going to the station

No entry at the station before time

In order to reduce the crowd on the platforms inside the station, it has been decided that passengers arriving before a certain time of departure of the train will have to wait outside the railway station.

There will be checking at the entry and exit

To prevent overcrowding, Delhi Police personnel along with Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) will check the tickets of passengers at all entry and exit points.

Trains will leave from platform 16

All special trains going to Prayagraj will depart only from platform number 16. Officials said that platform 16 can be reached from several entry and exit points from the ground level. This will eliminate the need for passengers to use the foot over bridge.

Ban on walking on foot over bridge

In view of the incident that happened earlier, the police has also banned walking on the foot over bridge without any valid reason. In fact, standing on the foot over bridge without any reason causes congestion and delay.

Temporary pavilion built outside the station

To control the crowd coming to the stations, a temporary pandal as well as a waiting area has been created outside the station. Along with this, patrolling has also been increased on all platforms, so that passengers will not be allowed to sit on the platform without any valid reason.

On the return journey, train number 02251 will depart from Varanasi at 3:15 pm and reach New Delhi at 11:50 pm via Prayagraj at 5:20 pm. The railways have run this special train because there is a huge increase in the number of passengers travelling to Prayagraj and Varanasi during the Maha Kumbh.

For the convenience of passengers, ticket booking has started on the IRCTC website. The fare of chair car from Delhi to Varanasi has been kept at Rs 2010 and the fare of executive chair car has been kept at Rs 3765. This train will give comfortable and fast travel experience to the devotees, which will make the Maha Kumbh Yatra even more convenient.

RPF reunited 289 lost people with their loved ones during Maha Kumbh

Apart from the lost and found centers, the Railway Police Force (RPF) has also played an important role in reuniting people who got separated from their families during the Maha Kumbh Mela. Since the bathing festival of January 13, the RPF has reunited 289 lost people with their families.

North Central Railway Inspector General of Police (RPF) Amiya Nandan Sinha said that from the day the fair started till now, 289 people who were separated from their loved ones have been reunited with their families at all the important stations of Prayagraj region such as Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Naini, Prayagraj Chheoki station premises.

After running the Vande Bharat Express train, the railways are now testing its sleeper version. The Vande Bharat sleeper train has been successfully tested at a maximum speed of 180 kmph. All the trials of the Vande Bharat sleeper train will be completed by the end of this month. After this, it will be evaluated by the Railway Safety Commissioner. Railway sources say that the Vande Bharat sleeper train will be seen running on the tracks in May this year.

On Thursday, the Vande Bharat sleeper was trialled on the Kota-Laban section in Bundi district of Rajasthan. The train achieved a speed of 180 kmph while covering a distance of 30 km. Earlier, on January 1, the train touched the speed of 180 km/h in a 40 km trial run on the Rohal Khurd to Kota section. On the same day, speeds of 170 km/h and 160 km/h were achieved on the Kota-Nagda and Rohal Khurd-Chowmahala sections respectively.

When will Vande Sleeper join the railway fleet?

The Railway Ministry said in a statement, “After the tests, the trains will be evaluated by the Railway Safety Commissioner at maximum speed. Only after passing the final stage, Vande Bharat trains will be officially certified and handed over to the Indian Railways for regular service.” A report in Financial Express quoted railway sources as saying that the Vande Bharat Sleeper train will join the railway fleet by May this year.

Experts believe that Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will reduce travel time by 2-4 hours as compared to Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express. Harshit Kapadia, Vice President of Elara Securities, says that these trains have better speed stability, more comfortable facilities, and effective braking system for jerk-free travel. Currently, the average speed of the fastest train running between Mumbai and Delhi is 90 kilometers per hour. Vande Bharat Sleeper will run at a faster speed and complete the journey in less time.

Fares will be expensive

The fares of Vande Bharat sleeper trains will be more expensive than Rajdhani and other trains. Due to this, many people are skeptical whether it will contribute to increasing the passenger income of the railways. For example, the fare of Vande Bharat chair car is 25-30% higher than the chair car coaches of other trains, which has affected its overall passenger rate. Kapadia said, “We expect the fares of Vande Bharat sleeper services to be similarly premium. These trains will be mainly for middle and upper middle class passengers, who will be willing to pay a little extra for better comfort and ambiance.”

Time table of Kalka Shimla special train, it will stop at these stations

Train number 52443 (Kalka-Shimla) will leave Kalka at 8:05 am and reach Shimla at 1:35 pm. On the return journey, train number 52444 (Shimla-Kalka) will leave Shimla at 4:50 pm and reach Kalka at 9:45 pm. Sanjay Ghera said that these special trains will not only promote tourism but will also generate revenue for the railways. This train can accommodate about 156 passengers. These trains will stop at Dharampur, Barog, Solan, Kandaghat and Summerhill railway stations.

The train will have a total of seven coaches, advance booking has started in the hotel

The Kalka-Shimla train will have a total of seven coaches, including three general coaches and two each of chair car and first class coaches. An official of the Northern Railway, Ambala Division, said that in view of the increasing number of tourists visiting Shimla during Christmas and New Year, it has been decided to run two special trains. M K Seth, President of Shimla Hotel and Tourism Stakeholders Association, said that there has been heavy booking for Christmas and 25 to 30 percent advance booking has been done for the New Year.

The first railway link was laid in 1903, declared a World Heritage Site in 2009

Let us tell you that the British laid the first rail link to connect Shimla in 1903. In 2009, the Kalka-Shimla rail track was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This 96.6 km long narrow gauge railway track has 103 tunnels, 800 bridges, 919 turns and 18 railway stations. On December 11, 2018, Shimla-Kalka became the country’s first narrow gauge track to run Vistadome coaches.

545 km journey in 8 hours 20 minutes

The Vande Bharat Express runs between Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Dehradun (Uttarakhand), covering a distance of 545 km in about 8 hours 20 minutes. This makes it the fastest train on the route, overtaking the Kumbh Express, which takes about 10 hours 40 minutes for the same journey. Earlier, the Lucknow-Dehradun-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express had just three stops – Bareilly, Moradabad and Haridwar Junction. Now, passengers will also have the option of boarding or alighting at Najibabad.

Know the timing of the train

According to the news, the timings of Lucknow-Dehradun-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express have been revised. For train number 22545 (Lucknow to Dehradun), the train will now depart from Lucknow at 05:15 and reach Dehradun at 13:40, halting for 2 minutes at Najibabad at 11:08. On the return journey, train number 22546 (Dehradun to Lucknow) will depart from Dehradun at 14:25 and reach Lucknow at 22:40, halting for 2 minutes at Najibabad at 16:17. The train has eight coaches, with two types of seats: AC chair car and executive chair car. It runs daily, except Mondays.

Dehradun Vande Bharat Express is the 44th Vande Bharat Express train of India. This train is also the only train that travels from Lucknow to Dehradun in both directions in a single day.

In view of the fog, the Northeast Railway has decided to cancel more than 70 trains from 1 December 2024 to 28 February 2025. In this, some trains have been temporarily canceled. At the same time, the number of trips of many trains has been reduced. Apart from this, there are some trains which will run only on special days.

Railways says that due to the reduction in speed of trains during fog, the capacity of the line gets affected. Keeping this in mind, the number of trains has to be reduced. During this period, some trains with low occupancy have been cancelled and the frequency of some trains has also been reduced.

857 fog safe devices installed in trains

According to an official of Northeast Railway, a total of 857 fog safe devices have been arranged. Out of which 315 fog safe devices have been provided in Lucknow division, 193 in Izzatnagar division and 349 in Varanasi division.

After Vande Bharat Train, Railways is now engaged in the process of operating Amrit Bharat Train. According to Railway Board officials, it is being planned to run Amrit Bharat Train on 26 routes in the first phase. In Rajasthan, it is planned to operate between Jodhpur to Gorakhpur and Ajmer to Ranchi (via Jaipur). For this, the availability of the route and the schedule are being monitored. Prime Minister Narendra Modi can flag off the Amrit Bharat Train. Railway Board is continuously holding meetings with the zonal railways on the preparations related to the operation of this train.

Amrit Bharat train can be started soon on Ajmer to Ranchi (via Jaipur) route in Rajasthan. According to railway officials, this train will be completely non-AC, in which Link Hoffman Bush rack will be used and a minimum of 18 to a maximum of 22 coaches can be included in it. All coaches will be non-AC sleeper and general class.

The coaches of this train will have advanced couplers and latest technology features, and its maximum speed will be 130 km per hour. The old system will remain applicable in Taj and Gomti Express

The Railway Board has clarified that the old system of reservation in some special express trains that complete their journey in a single day, that is, the lower limit for booking advance tickets, will remain applicable as before. 365 day limit for foreign nationals

Apart from this, the timings of Meerut-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express will also be changed.

Every year, the railways releases a new timetable for trains from July 1. This time, no new timetable was released in July. During this time, two Vande Bharat Expresses were also adjusted via Bareilly. Four new trains were also started operating on the Pilibhit-Mailani-Lucknow rail line.

Vande Bharat is also included in the new timetable

. Delays have increased due to adjustment of new and festival special trains in the old timetable. Bareilly-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper via Bareilly three days a week and Saharanpur-Prayagraj Vande Bharat Express six days a week are also proposed. These trains are also to be given place in the new timetable.

Railway is reviewing the operation of Amrut Bharat Express, Vande Bharat Express, Vande Bharat Sleeper trains in all zones and divisions. Ways are also being found out to deal with the delay of trains. Due to the review, new timetable was not issued first on July 1 and later on October 1. Now it will be implemented from January 1.

Timings of trains cancelled for three months will also change

; Railway has cancelled 14 regular trains from December 1 to February 28 due to fog season. The number of trips of 28 trains have been reduced. Regular operation of all these trains will now start again from February 1 to 7 on the new timetable. Timings of new trains adjusted in the old timetable will also be changed.

Izzatnagar division’s PRO Rajendra Singh said that this time the new timetable of trains will be implemented from January 1. Operation of some other trains including two Vande Bharat trains via Bareilly is also proposed. Many trains are being run by adjusting them in the old timetable. This time the new timetable will be implemented from January 1.

The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run between New Delhi and Srinagar. This train will run on the USBRL project. It will cover a distance of more than 800 km in less than 13 hours.

The train will be operated by the Northern Railway (NR) zone. ET Now quoted a senior railway official as saying, “This train will connect the national capital to the capital of Jammu and Kashmir.” It is expected that this train will be extended to Baramulla later.

It will depart from New Delhi at 7 pm

The New Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Sleeper train will depart from New Delhi at 7 pm and reach Srinagar at 8 am. On the way, the train will stop at some major stations like Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Sangaldan and Banihal.

There will be three types of tickets for passengers in this train. These include AC 3 Tier (3A), AC 2 Tier (2A) and AC First Class (1A).

How much will the train fare be?

Fares for travelling by Vande Bharat Sleeper train between New Delhi and Srinagar are expected to be around Rs 2000 for 3A, Rs 2500 for 2A and Rs 3000 for 1A.

Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, the Railways has decided to increase general coaches in 108 trains. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this time general coaches have been increased in 108 trains during the festive season. A provision of 12,500 coaches has been made for Chhath Puja and Diwali special trains. So far 5,975 trains have been notified in the year 2024-25. This time in the festive season, more than 1 crore passengers will be facilitated to go home.

Last year, a total of 4,429 special trains were run during the festive season in 2023-24. Compared to last year, more than a thousand trains will be run this year. Railways has issued a list to all zones to run special trains during Diwali and Chhath. The maximum number of 130 trains will be run from Northern Railway. 104 special trains will be run from SCR zone. 99 trains will be run from ECR zone. In this way, Railways has decided to run special trains from all zones.

To prevent train accidents, the Railways has decided to install the upgraded version 4.0 of Kavach on two more major routes of the country. The new version has recently been approved by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO). Tenders will be issued soon for both these routes. According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the work of installing Kavach 4.0 will also start in October.

Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata are among the busiest routes of Indian Railways. Both these routes are being equipped with Kavach. Now after the arrival of Kavach 4.o, it has been decided to install Kavach on Mumbai-Chennai and Chennai-Kolkata routes as well. In this way, by combining all the four routes, about 9 thousand km. long track will be equipped with Kavach.

A passenger can book an unreserved ticket through the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app. He said that now the distance limit for booking general tickets has been removed in the app. With the introduction of this facility, now passengers can book general tickets from any place.

20 kilometer limit reached

According to a statement, earlier the maximum distance limit for booking general tickets through UTS on mobile app was 20 kilometers, that is, no passenger could book a ticket if the distance from the station platform was more than 20 kilometers. Now with the removal of distance limit, general tickets can be booked online from anywhere.

However, no change has been made in the minimum distance of Geo Facing in the app, under which the passenger cannot book general tickets online from the platform and inside the train.

According to this, through the facility of UTS on Mobile App, the passenger gets an easy interface using which the passenger can easily make paperless general ticket/platform ticket/season ticket on the mobile, this saves the time of the passenger as well. Why did the rules change?

In fact, Jharkhand social activist Sunil Kumar Khandelwal had complained about the huge amount charged by the Railways for canceling waiting tickets. He complained that Railways is earning huge amount only in the name of ticket cancellation charges. He explained with the example that a passenger had bought a ticket for Rs 190. The ticket was a waiting ticket which was canceled by the Railways itself if it was not confirmed. After the ticket was canceled by the Railways, he received only Rs 95, the remaining amount was recovered in the name of convenience fee. After this complaint, IRCTC and Railways changed their decision. Railways has decided that only a cancellation fee of Rs 60 per passenger fixed by the Railways will be levied on such tickets.

Changed the water bottle rule

Let us tell you that recently Railways changed the rules related to water bottles provided to passengers in Vande Bharat trains. Railways decided to give 500 ml bottles to passengers instead of 1 litre. Passengers will be given an extra 500 ml bottle free of cost as per their requirement. 59 thousand crore subsidy was given

by the government in 2019-20, the subsidy of Rs 59,837 crore was given on passenger tickets. He told that every person traveling by train is given an average discount of 53 per cent. This subsidy is given to all citizens including senior citizens. Apart from this, railways gives subsidy in many categories like Divyangjan, students and patients.

According to the report released by the Railways, earlier the Railways used to give 40% discount in fares to men aged 60 years or more.
