A notification has been issued by the General Administration Department regarding the public holiday. In which it has been told that this order will be applicable only in the areas where elections are being held.

Public Holiday: This is the reason for the holiday

According to the departmental order, voting for the three-tier panchayat elections will be held on Monday, February 17. Due to which there will be a public holiday on the day of election. It will be known that the three-tier panchayat elections in the state will be completed in three phases. Voting for the first phase will be held on Monday. Keeping this in mind, the General Administration Department had already issued an order. Let us tell you that public holiday will be applicable only in those areas where elections will be held. In other areas, schools and colleges will open at their scheduled time.

Holiday declared again in these states

In Pathankot, the deputy commissioner has ordered a half-day holiday on February 10, which will come into effect from noon onwards. However, there will be no holiday in schools and colleges where board or university examinations are scheduled.

In Uttar Pradesh too, all schools will remain closed on February 12, especially for classes 1 to 8. Apart from this, there will be a holiday on February 26 as well. In Varanasi, a holiday has been declared for all schools up to class 8 till February 14, and classes will be conducted online. In Ayodhya, in view of the large number of devotees during Magh Purnima, all schools will remain closed from February 11 to 14. This order will apply to government and private schools in urban areas, but the board exam dates will remain the same as before.

In Delhi, the Lieutenant Governor has declared a holiday in government offices and public sector undertakings on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 12. In Mirzapur, schools will remain closed for students from nursery to class VIII from February 11 to 13, but teachers will perform their duties in the school.

Schools will remain closed for so many days this month

Apart from this, schools may also remain closed on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19 and Mahashivratri on February 26. Schools will be closed on February 16 and 23 as they are Sundays. In Jammu and Kashmir, schools up to class 5 are closed from December 10, 2024 and will remain closed till February 28, while schools from class 6 to 12 will reopen from March.

To conduct the election process smoothly, a holiday is often declared a day before the polling so that administrative preparations can be finalised. Apart from this, with the aim of making citizens aware about the Delhi elections, the Deputy Director of Education will organize a Prabhat Rally on 3 February 2025 at 9 am. In this regard, an official notice was issued by the District Election Officer of District South West, Government of Delhi on January 31, in which the Deputy Directors of Education of South West Delhi (Najafgarh) and West Delhi (Vikaspuri) were instructed to ensure active participation in this campaign. Overall, preparations are being made on a large scale to conduct the assembly elections in Delhi successfully and ensure maximum participation of voters.

Holiday declared in Haryana as well

In view of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Haryana government has declared a paid holiday on February 5 in all public offices, educational institutions, boards and corporations. The purpose of this holiday is to facilitate those government employees who are registered voters in Delhi and want to exercise their franchise in the elections. An official statement said that this holiday has been given under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (amended in 1996). This provision will apply to those employees who are voters of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, so that they can vote without any hassle.

He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and suddenly lost consciousness at home on 26 December 2024.

He was brought to AIIMS in a medical emergency at 8:06 pm. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved and was declared dead at 9:51 pm.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a deep depression on Tuesday morning and moved towards the east coast and is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm. It said that the depression area is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 23 and into a severe cyclonic storm by October 25, which will affect the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha.

“All schools, colleges, universities, technical/professional institutes, polytechnics and ITIs in Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Khurda districts will remain closed for three days (October 23 to 25),” the official order said. Apart from coastal Karnataka, IMD has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Tumkuru, Mysuru, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kolar, Shivamogga and Chikkaballapur districts. This warning indicates deteriorating weather conditions and life may be affected here.

Gram Director Shishir said in a statement, “Taking note of the demand of various organizations, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed to declare October 11 as a public holiday except essential services on the occasion of Navmi.” Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that all schools under the Basic Education Department will remain closed across the state. He said, “Under the leadership and inspiration of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, integrated efforts are being made to empower half the population in the state. In such a situation, different employee organizations were pleading with the government. In such a situation, now people in the state have got three days off. After the announcement of the holiday by the Yogi government, all the employees have expressed their gratitude to Yogi Adityanath.

The secretariat employees were the first to demand a holiday on the occasion of Ramvanami on 11 October from the Yogi government. Apart from this, according to the gazette issued by the government, there will be a three-day holiday on Diwali as well. There will be a public holiday on 31 October Diwali, 1 November Govardhan Puja and 2 Bhaiya Dooj and Chitragupta Jayanti.

If any officer or employee is registered in the voter list of Haryana Assembly and is employed in government, educational institutions, offices, boards, and corporations of the state of Punjab, he can take special leave on October 5 by showing his voter ID card. And as October 6 is a Sunday weekly holiday, employees will get two consecutive days off.
