Notably, this EV will currently be available in only one fully loaded variant. Toyota has equipped it with a 61kWh battery pack, and the company claims it will deliver a premium experience in terms of features and technology.

However, the most debate is surrounding its price, as the Maruti eVitara, which shares the same platform, is significantly cheaper. The question now arises as to whether Toyota’s brand value and features will justify this higher price.

Strong in features, but the price raises concerns.

The company has provided several premium features in the Urban Cruiser Ebella. These include features like ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, a sunroof, and an 8-year battery warranty. The car will only be available in the E3 grade and features a 61kWh battery pack. Toyota says it has established over 500 BEV service touchpoints across the country to provide customers with better after-sales support.

In terms of design, its front look is distinct and modern, although the cabin layout is very similar to the eVitara. Five single and four dual-tone color options are also available, giving this SUV a premium feel.

Why is the Ebella so much more expensive than the eVitara?

The biggest challenge for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella could be its price. While the Maruti eVitara’s starting price is reported to be ₹15.9 lakh, its top-of-the-line model goes up to around ₹20 lakh. The Ebella, on the other hand, was launched at a price of ₹23.6 lakh. Furthermore, the eVitara also offers a BAAS (Battery as a Service) option, while the Ebella currently lacks this feature.

In this context, the price difference is even more noticeable. Experts believe that if Toyota introduces more variants in the future, it could reach a wider audience. Currently, the company has positioned it as a premium and fully loaded EV, but price is always a major factor in the Indian market.
