The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the official holiday calendar for June 2026. Bank branches across the country will remain closed for a total of 11 days in June. This long list of holidays includes regular holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays. Bank employees will also be off on special occasions like Muharram and several regional festivals.

Due to these reasons, work will be stalled for 11 days.

According to RBI guidelines, bank holidays are divided into three distinct categories. In addition to national holidays, many holidays are based on state-specific festivals, directly impacting customers in that region. Looking at the June 2026 calendar, Sundays will be weekly holidays on June 7, 14, 21, and 28. Bank branches across the country will be closed on June 13, the second Saturday, and June 27, the fourth Saturday. The remaining holidays are determined by important local festivals in different states.

Digital banking will become a support

The 11-day bank closure doesn’t mean your daily transactions will come to a complete halt. The Reserve Bank has clarified that despite branch closures, digital services will remain available 24/7 for customer convenience. You’ll be able to use services like UPI, net banking, mobile banking apps, and ATMs without interruption. This will ensure you don’t face any problems with money transfers or bill payments. However, it’s best to complete tasks that can only be done at a branch in a timely manner.

According to the holiday calendar issued by the Punjab government, there will be three consecutive holidays on August 15, 16 and 17. This means that schools, colleges and government offices will be closed on Friday, Saturday and then Sunday.

RBI holiday calendar still mentions holiday on 31st March i.e. Eid, but about a week ago RBI has issued a new notification saying that 31st March is a bank closing day. The Chhattisgarh Government has declared a public holiday on 18 December 2024 on the occasion of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. According to the list of holidays of RBI, banks will remain closed for 4 consecutive days from 7 to 10 November on the occasion of Chhath Puja. Banks will remain closed for 4 consecutive days in these states

This year the festival of Chhath Puja is starting from 5th November with Nahai-Khai. During these 4 days, women fasting will fast for 36 hours. After this, the fast will be ended by offering Ardha to the Sun God on the morning of 7th November. In such a situation, there will be a bank holiday in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand and Bengal on 7th November.

After this, there will be a holiday in these states on Friday, 8th November as well. There will be a holiday in Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya on this day. After this, the second Saturday of the month of November is falling on 9th November, so there will be a holiday in all the states of the country, while on 10th November, due to Sunday being a weekly holiday, all the banks will be closed.
